I want something very simple. If i got this thing it would make me forever grateful. It wouldn't harm anyone, or make me forget anyone. I would be truly happy if i got this. I've prayed and prayed, but i still haven't got it. I'm a good person at heart, and i don't only pray when i want stuff-i pray for others, too. This is something i deeply need. So why won't god give it to me? I don't understand. I know god isn't there just to give you things, and i'm not selfish, i just don't understand. If god knows how to make you happy, why would you be refused of a simple ask? I've tried praying hard, i've cried and begged, made sacrifices and promises, and i remain unanswered. Please explain this to me-and please no harsh words or lectures, i'm very desperate.

I am not a christian, i'm a hindu. I believe every god exists-if you don't, i don't think you should be answering my question. What i'm praying for? The abuse form my parents to stop and for acceptance. I can't think of someone who wouldn't need this.

Maybe it's not the right thing for you right now. We are shorter-sighted than God and can't see the long-ranged plans.

My friend wanted a house really bad and she would have just been able to make the mortgage payments if she'd gotten it. She prayed and prayed and didn't get it. Guess what? She lost her job a week later and had to take another for a lot less pay. She would have lost that house to foreclosure, if she'd gotten it. Later, she prayed for another house that fit her means alot better and she was blessed with that one and has been very happy there since.

Moral: Sometimes, the answer might be "wait".

Hi Von - it's hard to understand why we don't always get what we pray for. I've come to the conclusion that there are simply a lot of things we don't understand about how the universe works. Sometimes we are learning a lesson by going through a difficult period, even though we don't understand it at the time. Sometimes we need to give up wanting something in order to attain it. Sometimes we realize down the road that the thing we wanted so badly would have been disastrous if we had gotten it when we wanted it.

Perhaps you are where you are in life in order to learn things that you will need later on in your work as a family counselor, or as a teacher. Perhaps you have brothers and sisters who would be in grave danger if you weren't there to serve as an intermediary with your parents. I don't know your situation, but I do believe that there are reasons for the places we pass through in life.

Kahlil Gibran has a lovely line in "The Prophet" - "the deeper sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain." I hope that the test you are enduring now will somehow be turned to joy in the future.

Best of luck, and don't give up, ok?

I'm sorry for your troubles and will pray for you. I'm going to say this as kindly as I can: you are praying to the wrong god. The God of the Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ, is the only true god. Pray to Him. Also , I think you should try to get out of your situation. God does not want you in an abusive situation. Talk to a relative or school counselor or even the police if necessary, but find a way to get out as soon as possible.

Edit... When you put it that way then you simply need to leave your parents. They are not providing a loving relation ship for you to live in then you need to find it by yourself. Talk to the authority's and break off contact untill you have the emotional stability to gain acceptance from yourself and not from your parents.

Well what is it that you want? If your going to pray so hard its probebly best if you know about what your praying to aka god! Read the bible quaran torah there is no where that it says that your going to get everything you ask for! And if you do really belive you will understand that your supposed to give up all of your things and be humble. Your supposed to find happiness in gods love not a physical object.

Ever heard the story of the man praying and praying to god for him to win the lottary he prayed and prayed and then one night jesus appeared to him in all his glory and he said "God why wont you let me win the lottary" and jesus said in a booming voice "CHAD....MEET ME HALF WAY AND BUY A TICKET" funny story but the meening is that prayer only gets you half way you have to actually try like hell and god will do the rest if it is ordained if not srry but get over it and stop whining!.

I think it is possible that you don't actually want it. Being denied it might subconsciously be more meaningful to you. What will you do when you succeed? How will it affect your life, your view on it? Your relationships to others? I know that I personally subconsciously won't let myself succeed in anything big. It is just the way I am. I feel as though if I do my best, more will be asked of me than I am capable of.

Also, it may be what you are asking for. If a little kid asked every day for a lifetime supply of chocolate, it may be in the kids best interest not to have that wish fulfilled.

If you are Christian, it is said that god helps those who help themselves. Actively work toward your goal, focus on it, and doors will probably open for you if it is meant to be. Whether this is from the influence of god, the power of your consciousness, or simply a result of training your mind to look for opportunity of this type, I've seen it work plenty of times.

It is very important for you to understand that if you ask God for a thing and you have not gotten that thing, there are two possibilities. Either His answer is no, or He is waiting for a better time to give you what you are asking for.

It is equally important for you to trust that God knows, better than you, what is best for you. Please don't try and "manipulate" His will. Submit to it, whatever it is. It is a sign of a mature Christian to ask and then leave it in God's hands.

P.S. I'm sorry, you are not a Christian are you? Dear, the only way to come to the Father is by way of the son. If you do not believe in Jesus, nor pray in His name, God has no obligation to hear you.

Well, what I see happening is the fact that you have to be content in what ever state you are in. See I wanted a Harley all my life to the point I felt the only way I would get one is if I shot somebody and took theirs. Well, I totally gave up and decided I was not going to waste 1 more minute being unhappy. So I started looking at all the pitfalls to owning one, like storage. And that very night my fiancee came home and threw a newspaper on the table with a Harley for sale circled on it with a decent asking price that we could afford.
Well it isn't so much the thing I got as much as the lesson I learned. The Lord is my Shepard,(I shall not want). And believe me it is a lesson that goes all the way back to Adam and Eve. If only they could have made themselves content with all the rest God gave them instead of focusing on the one thing they didn't have access to we would still be living in paradise today. And muster up all the Joy you can and walk in love because God is love and He cannot operate in a hostile environment. He basically wants us to learn and develop spiritually. On earth as it is in Heaven. He does not have any problem giving you anything but He wants us to develop maturity. Take care and may God bless you spiritually.

In my life, I have begged and prayed for many things. Looking back, I am so grateful to God for NOT giving them to me. Focus on God, not on what you want. Ask Him to give you understanding.

Read the Book of Job. Job did not understand why all those bad things were happening to him but he would not denounce God, even when his wife and friends were encouraging him to do so. Job remained steadfast and he was truly blessed in the end.

Von, God is NOT a favor dispensing machine. Insert so many prayers and out comes your favor. It'd be really COOL if it really worked that way. I never canunderstand why people will say, "God didn't answer me, he didn't give me what I asked for". Your NOT recieving what you ask for IS God's answer, the answer is "No". You may not see the harm of what you're asking but HE does, he may have somethng else entirely in mind for you and giving you what you WANT may interfere with that entirely. Or he simply may just NOT want to give it to you for his OWN reasons. Or it may NOT be the right time for you to have it. But for you to take it in the way that you are is only proving to yourself and everyone around you that you afre behaving in a childish and selfish manner. That may be the VERY reason that your request is NOT being granted in the way that you wish.
