If you have measuring spoons one will be labeled tablespoon. It can be used for lquids or powders. Otherwise a tablespoon equals 3 teaspoons, or roughly 1/2 ounce.
In a pinch I have used a soup spoon to measure a tablespoon but it's not exactly the same.

You need a set of measuring spoons. They are generally attached to each other and come in sizes from 1/8th teaspoon to 1 Tablespoon.
1 Tablespoon = 15 ml or 3 teaspoons

Three teaspoons, or 1/2 an ounce. But you really need to use measuring spoons, as the ones used for eating vary in size.

when a recipe calls for a tablespoon it's asking you to put in a "level" (not heaping) tablespoon which is the size of a soup spoon.
