How to ask a girl's brother for permission to date her?

So I like this girl Janelle, but I want to approach it in the right way. I'm friendly with her brother most of the time, and I wanted to ask him for his permission to ask his sister out. How would I go about doing this. What would I say to him?

I guarantee you my intentions are pure and would never disrespect her and I would like to have your approval first..which is why i am here approaching you about it.. he'll love the fact that you do this

WHAT!!!!! NAw you don't ask the brother if you can date his sister. You tell the brother if he has a problem with you dating his sister. And if he does well it's up to her sister if you go out with her or not. Ask for his permission you not in elementary school anymore, grow up.

I think you are putting the cart before the horse. Unless there are specific cultural reasons why you have to talk to her brother, you need to speak to the lady in question;since she is the one you want to date and you don't know her feelings for you.However, if you have to ask his permission in order to ask her out, then be direct, sincere, and honest. Tell him that you are attracted to his sister and though you are both friends, you want to respect him by asking for his assent. Be willing to answer any of his questions without getting offended and bent out of shape. Remember ,you are talking of his sister.It would eventually be worth it if you like her like you say you do.Good luck to you.
