Do mice have rabies... what are the chances that my puppy has it? About two weeks ago his eye was red and tearing like no other..did something just accidently hit him in the eye..he couldn't really open it for a little bit.
then this week we saw the fecies of mice where he stays...which is a really clean place that's why we noticed. Then today we saw the mouse and killed it...but I was wondering if my puppy got bit by it.
Thanks

He hasn't been neutured. And he is JUST losing his teeth..he just lost his two bottom teeth. So he's teething...so I don't think he is biting if he had rabies

Oh good grief people!!!!! A dog having a sore eye has absolutely nothing ot do with rabies. Eye irritations can be from dirt/dust, allergies, injury, illness, etc it needs to be checked out by a vet.. Rodents can be vectors of many diseases but rabies is rarely, in other words almost never, one of them.

If this puppy is 16 weeks or older then he needs to be vaccinated for rabies..period...if he is 6 months or older and not a conformation show dog or part of a planned breeding program he should be neutered asap.
Also a puppy/dog should not be kept in an area where mice/rats frequent.

I can't understand why you'd keep your puppy anywhere near mice droppings. Furthermore, I can't understand why you didn't take the puppy to have its eye checked. I think you should schedule an appointment with a vet and voice your concerns and you in turn will get the best possible advice.

sure they carry all kinds of diseases!!
Why don't you take the dog to the vet and get checked out and then move you Lil dog else where like in the a garage or house etc....

yeah! Ive seen some around my dog houses too.they are after their food!

be careful dear and if you treat the area with mice killer be oh so careful that you pets as well as another don't get in it!

take care & hope your dog will be okay!

Gosh, I know that rabies have a certain period that it shows up in a animals behavior, but I can't remember for how long. You could look up the time frame or ask a vet.

It is very rare for rats and mice to have rabies. It is more common in raccoons, bats, foxes, and skunks.

He would be agressive, foaming at the mouth and not drinking water.
