Get something from your vet. The OTC ones rarely work.

First off has this dog been diagnosed with earmites??? Dogs rarely get ear mites so unless actually diagnosed with them he shouldn't be treated for them. OTC products can actually cause a whole lot more trouble then help and I can't imagine any good vet even recommending them especially if a problem hasn't been diagnosed.
Dogs do commonly get various types of ear infections..you need to take your dog to the vet and get a correct diagnosis and treatment..NO OTC no self medicating.

1-800 pet meds on line and order you some ear mite treatment ,it may be a Lil higher but will do the trick!

also goe ahead and clean your dogs /cats ears with Q.tips very easily DO NOT enter the ear canal!!
you can put a dap of nerosproine or Vaseline on a clean Q tip after you clean their ears to help ease the pain of having them!

get ear cleaning pads and clean the ears EVERY DAY.
follow that with ear mite medicine from your vet

Ask your dog if you can use peroxide or iodine or anything like that.
You need to tell your vet what's not working and discuss it with him again. He may have another different medicine for infestations of mites that are resistant to normal treatment.

I use olive oil and that seems to work good, but over the counter is best (just more irritating).

The secret to making ear mite medicine work right is to clean their ears first. When there is crud in their ear, the earmites hide in it and they don't get killed.

Ear mites are VERY contagious, and when animals sleep together they all get them! So watch out.
