Hell yes, it's dangerous! I have epilepsy and used to take phenobarb and had a few drinks one night years ago, and I ended up in ER! VERY dangerous. The combination of phenobarbital and alcohol is potentially lethal! The alcohol will mix with the phenobarb, and cause you to fall asleep, and your breathing will become extremely shallow, causing the oxygen in your brain to be slowly cut off. Not a good idea if you want to stay alive.

I'm surprised that it's still possible to get phenobarbital. It's a central nervous system depressant, as is alcohol. Mixing the two together could depress the action of your brain so much that the part responsible for keeping you breathing doesn't work, leading to death by suffocation.
