2000 Ford Contour SVT SEDAN
Price: $7,995
Mileage: 42,000
Exterior Color: Black
Interior Color: Tan
Body Style: Sedan
Doors: Four Door
Engine: 6 Cylinder
Transmission: Manual

My dad doesn't think I should pay more than $7,000, but I just wanted some more opinions. I don't think $7500 would be bad dependent on the dealer letting my mechanic look it over. Also, does anyone know what type of mpg the SVTs get. I have found info for normal Contours, but I can't find a figures for the SVTs.

I take it that's a dealer's price? You should be able to get them to knock it down to $7000. Here's some links you might find helpful:

Edmunds TMV ("True Market Value") pricing for the SVT Contour: http://www.edmunds.com/ford/contoursvt/review.html

2000 Ford Contour owner reviews from carsurvey.org

1995-2000 Ford Contour review from Consumer Guide:

If you scroll down to the bottom of the Consumer Guide page, you'll see that the Contour SVT was rated at 20 city/29 hwy mpg, just barely less than the non-SVT V6 ratings of 21/31.

I owned a Contour and it was the biggest piece of shite I have ever driven. Anything that could go wrong with that car did at least twice. They are notorius for water pumps going bad quickly which could lead to a cracked head or blow engine. Beware of the Ford Contour!!!!!!!!

Before you buy it make sure there is a past repair order history log, if not be suspicious. Check with car fax to see if was in an accident if so it is supposed to be disclosed to you by the seller. If you get it from a dealership you are entitled to the Lemon Laws of Ca. Be safe make sure its not a Lemon as well if it is then the price should only be 50% of that 7K. Good Luck and GOD Bless.
