Just curious. I have been in the Air Force now for 15 years. Been to Afghanistan and Iraq. I am fighting to defend our freedoms. That is the way I see it.

I say "thank you for your service to our country"

I think Christians in the military, and all other faiths, realize the problems of the world aren't going to be wished away and that we need a strong military to show the world that we won't be pressured into living on our knees by the terrorists of the world.

We also need the military for any natural disasters we may have and it doesn't matter what religion you are for you to be there in a time of need. Once again----I tell them Thank you.

I have mixed feelings especially since my son is also serving ( he is an MP) There is the idea of brining peacethrough Christ and then there is the idea of defending the helpless. Have you ever read the book "the theory of the Just war"? It is only a few hundred years old and discusses when and how a Christian should fight based on Christian principles. Ok Explain what did I write that got a thumbs down?

War was in the Bible(in the old Testament) so it seems to have rhyme or reason, I'm no poet or scholar so I have no idea why it exists.

In the new Testament, the main thing Jesus preached was Love. Love has nothing to do with war(or does it?). Love thy neighbor - could be taking care of our neighbor - this is what I think the military is for. So everyone can be safe.

God bless you for giving 15 years of your life to keeping us safe and free. Happy Independence Day!

Considering Captain Moroni, Heleman, Mormon, and Moroni are some of my favorite people...You just gotta love a man (or woman) who is willing to give up so many of their own freedoms and rights for the opportunity for others to live with freedom and rights they wouldn't otherwise have.

I also come from a long line of military and patriotic people. So you (and all military personnel) have my support, my gratitude, my love, my compassion, and my sincere thanks.

I am grateful to anyone who serves in our military regardless of their religion. The men and women of our armed forces volunteer to protect the rest of us so we can go about our daily lives. They all deserve our thanks and respect.

I see no issue with it...but then again, that could be because I'm a Christian Army wife. Maybe I'm biased.
