You need to check with your ISP first.. many do not allow servers! Just a suggestion. Most DSL/Cable lines make poor webserver lines because the outbound speed is limited and that is what you need for a server.

Once you have loaded the software and setup your website you have a "home based" server and your good to go.

If you are behind a router you will have to port forward the web server ports to your server (Those are listed in the documentation and on MS support site.. port 80 webserver, port 21 FTP, port 23 SSH, port 25 pop port 53 DNS, port 110 SMTP, etc)

If it were me, I'd use Linux and Apache but then I just like stuff that WORKS.and doesn't take alot of patches and restarts!

well considering server 2008 is still in beta , idk. u can download apache server and place the site inside the apache foler in the programs folder.
