Probably because devout Jains walk around naked, and mosquitos come out at sunset and bite their privates. Also, it gets cold after dark and they don't like people to see them with their danglers all shrunken up.

It sounds true. Though I am not sure if it is or not. The reason would be that they could not see where they were walking so they might step on something and kill it and this would violate their vow of non-harming.
