i'm 14 and i just got my permit about a month ago, and now i'm looking to buy my first car.

i want something that's really good on gas, something that runs well, and something that's less than $3000.

My dad has been looking out for cars, and he's found a few, but yeah.

I want your opinions.

Are 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS's good? Would they fit my description of what I want?
Can you tell me what you know about them?

Also, what do you think would be a good car for me?

Here are some ratings on the Eclipse. Personally, I'd go with the suggestions above and go with a nice toyota. Also note that the top score is 100 and this model only gets a 43. Not a great track record.

Here is an idea...and i'm not sure on the price (i would figure it would be high b/c of the make of car but who knows?!?)

In the 1980's Mercedez made cars that run on diesel...Because its a diesel engine, you won't have any problems until about 300,000 miles, which is basically forever, plus you get really good gas milage compared to an unleaded engine. And your friends will think it's cool that you drive a mercedez ;) The only problem i would see is i have no clue if a Mercedez made 20-25 years ago is under 3,000 bucks.

try an early - mid 90's Honda Civic, Accord would be good as well, but you'll pay more and I don't think it would be necessary. If you want a bit more style, Acura Integra early 90's... But really any Honda or Toyota would be great. The Mercedes would be a decent choice, but I don't think it's the styling you are going for. Also, the Mercedes parts would be a bit hard to find and much more expensive.

ms. so-in-love,

eclipse' r gas eating cars! w/ 4G63 intercooler turbo under its hood? no doubt the parts r quite ouch! not a daily car for u! better pick a 1997 up model toyota corolla w/ matic tranny! y? dependable, low maintenance, overflowing of available parts & cool! just put a very nice '17 shoes & go off the road!

If you want a car that won't drive you to the poor farm needing
alot of service, go with Toyota. Those cars will perform like nothing else. They have a great reputation and you can drive it feeling confident and secure with your vehicle.

I would recommend a cheap Honda or Toyota until you really get good at driving, just in-case you rub a pole or turn the corner to sharp. Drive safe and GOD Bless
