I need to know because when I go to college, they will wipe everything clean, and I don't want to buy music if it will just be erased.

When you add music to your iTunes library, it stays where it is. Presumably it would be in your "My Music" or wherever.

When you buy music from the iTunes store, it typically goes into the "My Music/iTunes" folder, so, if you were to wipe your hard drive, it would no longer be there unless you'd backed it up somewhere, i.e. an external harddrive.

If you were to back it up, then wipe your pc hard drive, and put the music back into the iTunes library, you would have to authorize your pc with your iTunes account so you could play it, but thats another story.

Hope this helps,
Chris
