Ok my 3yr old likes swimming and we have a pool but im afraid her legs are to short for her to swim. So somtimes i set her in the tub or fill up a kiddy pool in teh backyard but that doesnt seem to satisfy her she runs straight for the bigger pool what do i do ?

It's OK! My Shih Tzu likes to swim also. Dogs with short legs can be excellent swimmers. What you have to make sure of is that the dog knows how to get out of the pool in an emergency. If she falls in, does she know where the stairs are and how to find them? Be sure to teach her this! I know of too many cases where dogs have drowned. :(

That's fine. It is cool and good exercise.

Just set up a few ramps around the pool so that she can get out easily, when ever she wants.

And just like any other small child, don't let her go into the pool unsupervised....

A friend of mine has a shihtzu as well who goes swimming all the time in the pool ... just keep an eye on her and don't let her swim alone and she'll be fine!

Let her swim in the big pool... as long as she keeps her head out the water it shouldnt matter. Now if you see her below the water, you better jump in after her!

If you are with your pup, then let her swim with you. Just don't let her alone. Lots of pups enjoy swimming, but it is a MYTH that ALL DOGS SWIM. If you are with her, then she will always be safe. Great guestion and have tons of fun this summer with your little buddy. :-) :-)
