If you are brave enough, go to Eastern Europe, like Estonia, Latvia and Belarus. Most of the people don't speak English so you've got to be patient. North Korea? Nah...it's dull and boring, it's like being sucked into a time warp!
For beaches, try the Philippines. May I suggest to avoid Boracay, Bohol and CEbu because it's pestered with tourists! I suggest to go to Pagudpod, Ilocos Norte and Honda Bay in Palawan. The beaches are so serene, and there are no Tourists around!

Anywhere! Try Canada for starters.
We do get lots of tourists, & some things of interest.
But you can get off the beaten path, & see wilderness.
We have the Great Lakes, the Prairies, & Rocky Mountains.

It's a bit of a long trip, but you might want to take a look at the Island of Guam. Very beautiful out-of-the-way island. I went over to visit my cousin who teaches there and didn't want to come home.
