On Monday a Church of England bishop declared that the flooding which has occurred in parts of the UK were a sign of God's displeasure with the lack of morals exhibited by people in the UK.

Do you believe that this is true and if so do you think that those who have been hit by the floods need to mend their ways if they don't want this calamity to happen to them again?

More god botherers trying to win converts.

In answer to your question, NO.

Science is a matter of proof or strong probability.

Religion is mythology.

Some so called religious leaders have said that this is punishment from God because of the immoral lifestyle of this country. This is contrary to what Gods word the bible teaches us. James 1:13 says 'when under trial, let no one say "i am being tried by God." For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone'. The reason we see such disasters is because Jehovah (God's name) isnt in control of Earths affairs right now. Once again the bible answers/confirms this..1 John 5:19 'We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one'. Soon God will step in and bring about a stable world. This will be done through his Kingdom which we pray for..Matthew 6:10 'Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon Earth'.

I think God should sue this bishop for defamation of character. Just as he should sue the Westboro Baptist Chapel for claiming he's killing US troops in Iraq because America 'tolerates gay people'. Just like he should sue the Falwell ministry for Jerry Falwell's statement - two days after 9/11 - that that was an act of God's wrath brought down on a nation that had turned away from Him. But hell, what do I know - maybe God really is a narrow-minded, rageaholic, finger-pointing moraliser, and he should actually be suing me and all my hippy friends who are still hung up on the idea that God is Love...

In any case, is the North of England particuarly renowned for its sinful stews and fleshpots? If God was taking a moral stance and doing the whole flooding thing, how come Yorkshire gets hit and Soho throbs on, that's what I'd like to know...

Ridiculous.
So all those kids in the third world are afflicted with drought and famine cos God's not happy with their morals is that right? And up til now we've had temperate climes but we've only just started being immoral enought to incur Gods wrath, so he's showering us with rain.
absolute tosh. If God existed, and did things like that, he wouldnt be the kind of God i'd be interested in knowing, mysterious ways or otherwise.

Very soon these clergy will start to demand a Sunday law, as to appease God. They will seek to force Sun-day observance against the 4th commandment of God.
This will result in the persecution of Sabbath keepers both Jews and Sabbath keeping Christians. Who refuse to worship contrary to their conscience and the plain word of scripture.
Thus this Sun-day enforcement will be an image of the Papal church of the dark ages ( 1st beast of Rev 13) who murdered over 50 million of the Lords true followers who would not bow to the authority of Rome.

Oh, please! I'm from the US, and Kansas is as religiously and politically conservative as you can get, yet it's still constantly hit by tornadoes! Either the UK floods are the result of global climate changes or else they're punishment for giving the world James Blunt!

I think he should be- *the following message has been censored to protect those with delicate sensibilities*

The UK floods are due to the green house effect, you want it to stop start doing something positive. Get a green car, or simply stop using a car altogether, switch to a more eco friendly energy supplier, etc.etc.etc., just try to reduce your carbon footprint as much as possible.

People have been killed in these floods, show a bit of damn respect, if you want to help give money to aid and relief projects attempting to help people rebuild and reclaim their lives after losing so much.

I don't believe that god is so petty, infact I don't think the church have got him right at all. I believe but don't think god cares if I go to church, half of the church goers are hippocrites anyway. I think if you have a good heart and care for others you will be ok come judgement day.
