If I were you I would study up on the mormon church. What the missionaries tell you is far from being the complete story. Do as much research as you can and see if you still like the church.

In these days, it's probably perfectly fine for a black woman to marry a white man. Although, I know where I grew up, it would be the most gossiped about relationship ever.

I personally knew a couple in France that were mixed. No offense intended at all. She was very dark, as dark and black as they can get. He, however was so white you would need sun glasses to see him, not in a good way either. But they were very much in love and married. Granted the French culture, IMO, is much more tolerant then the American culture with mixed marriages. Again no offense, African Americans tend to carry a chip on there shoulder due to the past; Not that I don't blame them. And many, old American traditions against Blacks still surface. However, France never had this history and never has Had this problem.

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and it is okay for a black woman to marry a white man. It is not frowned upon. The church has not been forced to do anything.

Some have.

There is a girl who authored a couple books about her conversion, she's black and she married a white man. In the temple.

I couldn't tell you, I left the church in the 90's and I was in Utah were there was only a few black or african American peoples around, were I live now there are more interracial marriages then I have ever seen, and in my christian church.
The church still has their black skin mark of Cain, and the wra in heaven story and Ham's wife is still Black if I am not mistaken.

Marry whomever you love! My sister-in-law's brother who is white is sealed to a black woman. They were married in the temple in Dallas, TX about 20 years ago. And they have the most beautiful children you have ever seen!

Edit: Rice and beans wouldn't know Church doctrine if it hit him in the face. He is a self-proclaimed X-Mormon...definitely NOT an expert. However, all the other answers (excluding Rice and beans or cheese or whatever his name is) before mine are accurate.

Don't listen to rice and beans, he obviously reads anti Mormon literature. I am married to a Samoan man and I am white. Mormons are allowed to marry any race! You will not be gossiped about or anything else! Follow your heart and ask the Lord for direction, he will direct your paths!!!

Yes, actually, that's fine.

The things we are most concerned about with respect to marriage are that a couple share a similar background, culture, politics and of course, religion. Many marriages which do not have a common base upon which to build have more of a struggle. Not saying that it's impossible--just a bigger challenge. Race, while occasionally an issue, isn't necesarily the biggest obstacle in a marriage.

The leadership in the Church do not frown upon mixed racial marriages. They do, however, want the couples to be united in purpose, to bring up their children in righteousness, and to follow the precepts of Jesus Christ.

Anyone possessing common sense realizes there can be specific challenges and issues with marrying outside one's race and it is important that the couple approach their union with due reason. I can assure you, that if you marry a white man in the Church you will be viewed as a sister in Christ, regardless your skin color and hair texture.

We are all the children of God the Father and he loves all of us.
