If you were for instance outside 3-4 hours a day, 80 degrees out, exposed to the sun 7 days a week, would you tatoo fade dramactically? I saw a girl that went tanning everydays tatoo and it looked horrible, parts of it were missing. I got jet skiing 2-3 times a week for a couple hours, I have 2 arm bands, are they gonna fade? I often put sunblock on them, will this help? Also, how much does it usually cost to get touch up's done? One of my bands has a few spots that arent' filled in strangly enough, they aren't very large, to total up all the places that needed filling, it would equal the size of a quarter.

"often put sunblock on them" is not the same as ALWAYS put sunblock on them....
tats require some upkeep...like keeping them covered in the sun preferably by clothes but definitely with sunscreen...they can last a long time if taken care of and they can fade quickly if not...

remember the secret is to use a high spf, use a lot and use it often and again wear clothes over them whenever you are out in the "midday" sun...

I have 8 tats, all black. The oldest is 10 years and the newest is 1 month old. I live in FL and am outside all the time. They are all the same color and evenness; no fading at all. I don't ever put sunscreen on them, but I do put regular lotion on every day when I get out of the shower, and the tat artist said that's why mine all look so good.
Touch ups for you should be about $40, but some studios have a $50 minimum. Good luck!

Yes. Heavy sun exposure sort of acts like a mild laser treatment, and can totally destroy a tattoo.

Fortunately, there's a way to stop it. Wear high SPF sunscreen over your tattoo (SPF 30 or higher).

Although really, you should be wearing sunscreen anyway if you want to make it to 50.

I have a star on my foot and I live at the beach. It has totally faded and I have had it less than a year. I had to have to color refilled. Sunblock doesn't help at all. It does nothing. I recommend putting duck tape over it. I know it sounds retarted but works. Peace.
