I have worked in animal shelters for years and know that benedryl is completely safe and a smart thing to do for a sting or bite. i don't appreciate uneducated answers. Let me add, i gave him liquid. Not a capsule. And, he is just freaking fine. He didn't care for the flavor, drank some water and is fine. For your info, I called an emergency vet office and they said it wasn't necessary to bring him in, and it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY he inhaled it, and to give him water. AND that it was the right thing to do if he was stung. Nevermind i don't need stupid answers from you demeaning people who have nothing better to do on a holiday except try to convince people you don't even know that you are Holier Than Thou. Get off your high horse.

its amazing that some people spout off at the mouth like they are SO freaking smart and make themselves look like a complete and total idiot. It is completely safe to give dogs and cats benedryl for stings/hives/ bites and things of that nature. It is also safe to give dogs Ibuprofen you should call a vet to find out the dosage depending on your pets weight.so for those of y'all that have nothing better to do than call people names and act smart perhaps you should invest in a good book.

I would call a vet or vet clinic.

There was no need to open the capsule, and it will not work ifyou do ipen it. she is probably coughing due to the sting, not the powder. She may be alergic to the bug which means she might get worse.

You are supposed to give her the pill- next time, hide it in cheese or meat

He could have inhaled some into his trachea or lungs! You have to give liquids very slowly to dogs. If he keeps coughing, you may need to go to the vet so it doesn't turn into pneumonia (material in the lungs).
