I have an i.q. of 138, I got a perfect score for math, and scored around the 850's in my other four in my eighth grade graduation tests, so I am not stupid. Why do they consider me stupid just because I believe in God?

Because we don't read about these stupid scientists who these atheists think have the answer to everything.

Lad, IQ tests really mean zip, and, anyway, whilst it isn't my thing to put down a kid, 138 isn't all that high--165, say, would be "high". Never ever think of yourself as "smart," as apparently you do--but that you are eternally learning more. And as you travel along, keep your mind open, always open: for example, don't embrace the stupid habit of Fundies and believe the moon is made of green cheese and the thousandth 'Rapture' since the First Century, is tomorrow at a quarter past two, but ask yourself 'Why do atheists believe gods do not exist? I believe in God but maybe there's more I should learn about religion and the thousands of gods around the world. Knowledge isn't going to do me one bit of harm--as the Fundies believe it will.'

I don't think you are stupid. Hell, I could even swallow creationism if you are applying to a greater scheme of things. But to sit there and tell me the earth was created like in the Bible, that's when I feel people are not necessarily stupid but simply deluding themselves because they want to believe that there is a god so bad that denying the creation story would be denying the existence of God as laid out in the Bible.

Creationists make the claim that the Earth is only 6,000 years old. This becomes just a wee bit ridiculous considering the Australian Aborigines have a culture that goes back 50,000 years. I don't think you're stupid - I think you are misinformed, and need to learn a lot more about Earth history before you go making claims that are completely unfounded and obviously false.

There are certainly people who would consider believers in God stupid. But most people (including educated Christians like myself) just consider creationists (without the 'al') stupid because they believe things that sound scientific but don't stand up under scrutiny. I also frequently find myself questioning the intelligence of people who don't capitalize letters when they are supposed to - for example, in 'I.Q.'

NOT because you believe in god.

But if, in spite of overwhelming scientific evidence that natural selection and evolution occur every day in the rich and varied environment we know as home, you STILL persist in believing the god formed a man out of some dirt, and made a chick out of his rib...

You're stupid.

Well I think you are stupid a lot more for the creation thing than the god thing. There is a ton of positive evidence for evolution.

If you're so smart, why do you think there's an l in creationists? The "850's in my other four in my eighth grade graduation tests"? Awkward sentence, dude. That answer your question?

What are "creationALists?" I really don't think that most atheists would think you were stupid...easily manipulated, maybe....or deluded, maybe...but not stupid. Even very intelligent people can delude themselves if they allow their emotions to overrule their rational mind.

It depends on the definition of stupid. I'd enlarge my definition to mean wilfully uninformed, blinkered by dogma and a tendency to inconsistent modes of thinking. These wouldn't affect IQ scores.

Well done on those tests, though.

You're not STUPID, just a tad immature.

Have you ever seen an otherwise intelligent person who believes in the Tooth Fairy?

It's cute and okay if they're six, a little tiresome if they're ten, and downright laughable if they're 25.

The same thing applies to creationism.
