As long as you are with your puppy when she has her collar on is fine. But under no circumstance should you ever leave your puppy unattended where it can get caught on something and choke to death because she can not get loose. Same way with at night , if you put her in a crate / kennel please remove the collar.

depends onthe breed. Small stout pups. start with a harness They won't hurt their necks and yoy can add a lead immedialty. This way you have control and less fighting to walk.
As for a collar. it should be a flat nylon buckle or quick release. Only put it on while you are present. Never leave a dog alone with a collar on. Collars are containment. but caught on something a dog will twist it self and suffocate. Never leave a harness on either when not present. they can get escape those. I
Onething TO Do is get your youn dog microchipped for ID>
no collar is safe when tagged and no tag is any form of permanent ID> A microchip identifies who the dog is as well who loves it.

My pups get their first collars at 3-4 weeks and basically grow up wearing one. Put the collar on her and let her get used to it for a few days.. lots of praise when you take it on and off.. after a few days put the leash on and *you* sit still holding onto it... again LOTS of praise as she figures out the leash is connected to you and she gets treats if she stays close while she's on the leash. I usually use the word "Here" when I want them to stay within leash range... and offer a cookie if they return to me after getting to the end of the leash. It makes your first walk on leash much easier if you can say "Here" and the pup knows that you mean it to come closer to you.

Just a plain buckle or snap collar. No choke chains at this age! Add a leash now and get her used to walking with you attached. Encourage her with treats to follow you. Don't allow her to pull you.

dogs can wear collars at any time as long as they're not too tight... as for leashes start by hooking a leash on his collar and let her drag it around until she gets used to it...then you can effectively use the leash

Put it on now so the puppy will start to feel comfortable in it. And only use a leash when you walk her...which you should start doing pretty soon.
