lucid dreaming is the practice of interacting in your dreams and controling them.. there is a movie called waking life which showcases this in a pretty cool fashion. But if you want to get into your dreams you must first prepare for sleep and think about what you want to dream about.. then in essense you will be awake in you dream and voluntarily controlling the situations..

We do not just learn through the use of repetitive language, we also learn how to do things by visualizing ourselves doing them.Calming the thoughts in your mind that have everything to do with your waking state, so they do not interfere is a good place to start. Put your life in perspective before you go to bed. Then for a while before going to bed, visualize yourself having a dream that will be important to you. You do not need to choose a subject, but you can if you wish to. During this time, see your self as waking up when the dream needs to be recorded. Creating a vision helps your mind and body, much more than words, to understand what you need it to accomplish. Create this vision of yourself dreaming just like you do during your waking life, as an example, what do you see in your mind's eye when you are told that there is a yellow brick in the middle of a red road. You see it!
Then persevere in your visionary state. Keep working at it, and one day, you will be able to also say: I dreamed that I was a butterfly, flying about, and when I awoke, I wondered: Am I a butterfly dreaming that I am a human, or a human dreaming that I am a butterfly. The rewards are immense.

Good question! I had the same problem, never remembering my dreams. Then, I grabbed a hold of it.
What you have to do is record your dreams IMMEDIATELY after you wake up. I recommend a voice recorder, because writing it down seriously inhibits the flow.
If you continue to do this, you'll remember more and more of your dreams as time goes on. I can't honestly try to explain to you why, but it worked.

There is probably no known way to make yourself dream more, since dreams occur in the part of sleep known as REM. REM, which represents rapid-eye movement, is the part of your sleep cycle in which you actually have dreams and refresh your body. As of now, there is no known way to increase your amount or duration of REM, however more sleep results in more REM cycles. However, if you aren't woken during or soon after this REM stage, then you probably wont remember your dream. Each REM stage may or may not have its own individual dream, but we only remember the most frequent one each night.

I'm not sure, but I find that thinking long and hard about something before I sleep usually helps me dream more, but I think it really depends on the person.

you have to wake up during a certain cycle of your sleep (there are 5, and that particular one takes about 7-14 minutes) and you have about 7 set of cycles during an 8-hour sleep, so if you wake up during that cycle, you'll remember it. it doesn't have to do with memory. just wake up in the middle of the night, and write it in a notebook best of luck!

Eat a hoagie and a liter of soda before going to bed and use a motion sensor camera to capture your waking moments after the nightmare.
