I am a member of the Church. I joined when I was 17, and have been a member for 13 1/2 years. I had the same misgivings you did when people started to feed me contradicting information to what I was taught. I want you to think about why you joined the Church. Think about what you felt and why you thought what the missionaries said was true. If you hear something that contradicts what you were taught, ask the missionaries or your bishop/branch president.
I don't think you were mislead. I hope you can sort through the hype that surrounds the Church and find that truth that you had when you were baptized. Yahoo has some great groups out there that are members supporting members. Try one of those, or go to www.lds.org or www.mormon.org. These are great informational sites put out by the church that can help answer your questions.

If you have been baptized into the church that Jesus bought with His blood, the teachings of that church shold match the Bible. If it doesn't then you have been misled as have hundreds of thousands of people.

In the New Testament, there was no such thing as a denomination. Each congregation was led by wise spiritual men called elders. Jesus did not say upon this rock I will build my churches. He said he would build His church. In I Corinthians chapter 1 The apostle Paul told the people in Corinth that they should all speak the same thing.

In order to accomplish the unity that Jesus prayed for and to all speak the same thing, we will have to throw away all the denominational creeds in out possession. All we need is the Bible (God's Word).

The Book of Mormon does not match the Bible and in fact as has been pointed out contradicts it. That should throw up a red flag or warning. Why doesn't it agree with scripture and if it does why is it even needed? I also would ask what was the purpose of your baptism? Read Acts 2:38 and see if what you did matches what the Bible says.

I would also like to comment on a statement made by someone that we just hate Mormons. The Bible teaches us not to hate. In fact it is because I have a love of your soul, that I even am attempting to answer. The Bible warns us that only those who do the Father's will can get to heaven. I am concerned that the Mormon teaching is not following the Father's will and unfortunately will result in those who follow it's teachings to be lost eternally.

Please get you Bible and study it. Make it your everyday guide. If you wish contact me and we can discuss the scriptures and God's will for mankind

If you have questions about something in the church it is best to ask a member of the church. Or even more importantly keep reading your scriptures and praying to God and the Holy Ghost will stay with you and help you to always hold to the truth. There are a lot of misconceptions about the church. Most the things you will read hear in Yahoo Answers will be things that are not true. I'm glad to hear you have been baptized into Christ's church. May God always bless you and keep you on the right path.

You know, I have been a member all my life and when I started reading these questions and answers I started thinking "hmmm". While a lot of these things are based in fact, the "whole story" is missing.

Many of the anti-Mormons on here are bitter and disenfranchised. The majority of their rantings are hate-filled diatribes and soapboxes.

When you read them, how do you feel? Is the same Spirit which led you to your baptism speaking to you through them? Or do you read it and feel "icky"? And by contrast, when you read posts by LDS, how do you feel? Do you want to get to know that person or do you feel lost?

"By their fruits ye shall know them".

When they say "do your homework", by all means, DO! But read stuff that's uplifting, and not going to rot your brain.

EDIT: Saved to Seek is right and wrong. The Book of Mormon does NOT match the Bible. It is not intended to. It's not a second Bible. It's The Book of Mormon. Written by an entirely different group of people with entirely different circumstances. It testifies of Christ by a people who didn't know him on a day-to-day basis. Jesus came to the Jews, not the Nephites. But the Nephites believed anyhow. But the Book of Mormon does not contradict the Bible. It is a companion to the Bible.

Baptism is something very special in which if you don't know the true meaning then the only thing you have done is wet yourself. And yes you were misled. The mormons have very pagan doctrines. They say/said (I'm not sure if they have changed position, I Don't think so) that Jesus and Lucifer are spirit brothers, that people that are born with dark skin were the neutral angels in the fight with God against Lucifer. And many other false doctrines. What you need to do is go in prayer to God and ask for guidance and read the scriptures to find the truth. Remember that the Bible (KJV) doesn't contradict itself, ever. Also, look for an evangelical church that keeps the doctrines of the Bible. A way to see (generally speaking) if they go by the Bible, is that they are what many consider old fashioned. God bless.

Did you research this church before you entered it?

Or where you lead the party line and decided you didn't need any outside information?

Did you enter this church truly believing to the very core of your being that it is right?

If that is the case, then you should be alright. Becuase you believe in what you where baptized into and weighed out all the possiblities.

Remember you are never bound to something regardless of what they claim. Sit down and think about why you are nervous. What is it that makes you have second thoughts? Are they just the opinions of others? Then don't worry about it.

But if it is arguments against the validity of the church and you are begining to question whether this church is the right church then find someone on the outside to talk to.

Personally, I don't agree with this church or their practices - but you need to make your own desicion.

If you did not do a lot of research before you jumped in, yes. You were more than likely taken advantage of. Most Christ based religions do this, unfortunately. Christs teachings were beautiful, but since the Christians general have a "you must be saved now!" attitude, those teachings are twisted to be self serving of the church.
It's funny, most pagan faiths require that you study for at least a year and a day to join the group. You have to know and feel that it is what you should do.

Best of luck... and remember, you are a child of the Creator. You are a part of the Creator, and so if you listen to your own heart, not someone elses, you will be listening to the Creator.

With much love and blessings of wisdom

From your avatar, doesn't look like you're "White and Delightsome" yet like the old Book of Mormon stated. I understand it's not a true representation of yourself..

So the real question is, have you noticed your skin turning any lighter in the last few days? Anything at all? It might actually take time, and you have to become a stronger and stronger mormon before you turn completely white. Don't count on your hair turning blonde, it won't happen. The promise is for your skin only, not your hair.

Get out, you were very mislead. They didn't give you all the dirty secrets in the beginning. Milk before meat, dontcha know? Go read some stories from www.ex-mormon.org, and see how you feel after that.
