I would, I don't think it's a good thing for a bird to pluck his feathers out. I read something about this wee ks ago.

I used to keep budgerigars and had to check them for a parasite called red mite which throws up the symptoms you describe they are very small little red spots also check the diet is balanced suggest you search the web for a society web site I feel sure they will help but with all pets if you feel something is wrong a visit to the vet cannot be put off.
if funds are short seek a charity clinic
I wish your bird well (the feathered one)

Feather plucking can be a sign of insect infestation, a skin infection or it could be a sign of boredom (neglect). Pet birds NEED human contact and interaction. If he is getting attention, then its possible very small parasites have taken up residence on your lil guy. A vet visit might be in order. Be careful using repellents of any kind - their bodies are much smaller than yours and a little bit can do a lot of damage.

Sounds like he is "stressed". Birds will pluck themselves bald if they are stressed out about something. There has to be something that is upsetting him. Maybe a change in his environment? Change in diet ? Some other animal in the house that is upsetting him ? Make sure he is in a quiet place where there is not a lot of household noise and cover him at night. Also have you considered getting another bird of the opposite sex ?

Feather plucking in any bird is a sign of stress. Kind of like a human "tearing his hair out". Is something bothering him? I'd say "YES", and if you can find out what it is, the behavior will stop.

If new ones are coming in then that is normal. If he is pulling healthy feathers out and getting bald spots, that is not normal and yes you need an avian vet to determine the cause.

well are the feathers he pulls out damaged or old? if they are he will remove them. Also how old is he because if he is still a baby he will grow new ones which causes his old ones to loosen the result is him pulling them out. Other than that if there not what i said take him to the vet. and also it sounds like he is stressed out from something. if you find that something he probaly will stop
