Impossible. I think you misunderstood. You could not be alive if you only had 1 gram of blood in your body. The human body needs about 6 quarts of blood (5 liters) to live.

At this point I don't like the answers the 2 other people gave but it was kinda my thought too.
However, I hardly doubt you are lying nor your Grandmother, but could someone have misunderstood the doctor? Sometimes when we are upset and trying to log everything the doctors say, we miss information or later remember it incorrecly.
However, I do realize also that sometimes things that seem impossible are possible. One of my sons has a blood disease so I do understand some things first hand that others can't.
Doctors can help when lack of blood is present using whole or part blood products to make up the difference but this doesn't mean the body retains it as it circulates. They can also use an IV drip to increase fluids into the veins to prevent instant death.
I don't know what Country you are living in but blood is usually measured in pints in America or liters in other Countries. When a doctor states "per gram" .... this usually means that a blood test was taken for a specific blood count "ingredient" such as white blood cells, red blood cells, or platelets as an example. Those three are the major 3 they usually look at in blood but there are so many others.
So the point is....when they take a blood sample, and then send it to the lab, that sample only represents a small portion of her bodys blood mass or total pints within her. So the test comes back saying "x ='s per gram". Example would be....1 gram of red cells per ?/or X .
I seriously implore you to call her doctor or nurse in charge and ask for a copy of the blood test or a doctor to show you and explain it to you THEN. By doing this, your eyes will see the test, and your mind under stress will absorb the information more correctly.
Good Luck and I'll pray for your Grandma and her family.

You misunderstood something along the line here my friend, one gram is called "dead"
I know some people have had a loss of blood during illnesses and, I should know the weight but can't remember, I've head of people loosing two thirds of their blood or about three to four units, that's a lot and probably in a coma and dying, but one gram, I don't think so.

One gram is 1/28th of an ounce. This is impossible - you have numbers mixed up or wrong information.
Leukemia is a cancer, and can be fatal. Frequently, the red blood cell count can drop drastically. This can be treated occasionally by diet; sometimes by injections that stimulate production of red blood cells, and frequently by transfusion.
You and everyone who loves your Grandma should ask when they need to donate blood [ not if - when! ]
All of you need to eat well, take vitamins with minerals, and exercise if possible. Any kind of cancer is exhausting, and
she will need help with many things, like rides to appts, trips to grocery store, help with her house and yard, etc.
Tell her to have faith, and hold on to her sense of humor!

It's not the grams of blood they are measuring, it's probably her red blood cell count. Ask to see the actual level recorded and then set about determining what she has exactly (there are different kinds of leukemia with differing treatments and blood cell levels) and what is the best course of treatment/diet for her. God bless.
http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org/all_page?item_id=7026 has sort of a primer on leukemia.

They must be measuring something else in her blood not her actual blood amount. Could be her white blood count or something else. Make sure you clarify this information with the doctor before you freak out.
