What is wrong with it exactly? Besides the fact that our current society deems it wrong arbitrarily?
In the context of that society, it wasnt wrong... and with the right frame of mind, it still isnt wrong.
A 12 year old is just starting to develop and may be capable of childbirth soon... which is what sex is about and it was so important back then to ensure the continuation of the population.
Im not arguing in favor of sex with people that young... but I am arguing against your close-minded bigoted philosophy that is was somehow wrong in context.
What -magic- does the age of 18 have over ones ability or right to have sex? How is it that we "know better" now?
You also have to distinguish old testament law from new testament law. Also, Christ himself said that it was a sin to violate the law of the land, the government whose land you are on.
Besides, marriage doesnt necessitate sex

Paedophilia wasn't a problem then because people didn't see a need to be afraid for a child well being in those situations. Times have changed and now it has become a problem because of the amount of people hurting young children these days. Paedophilia wasn't and still isn't condemned by God. Hurting a child though is and always has been. We made paedophilia the problem it is today, not God.

Edgar Allen Poe was 24 and married his 12 year old cousin, same with Shakespear. It was common practice those days, and in some cultures it is still common practice. The only reason we look down upon it is because it is not acceptable in our culture. That doesnt mean it wasnt acceptable back then. Plus, even if that were to happen today it still would have been half way around the world and still another culture other then our own.

What chapter and verse did you find that in the Bible? I've never seen it. But I do know that the laws back then were different. Just because a law was in effect does not mean that God backed it up. But I don't believe that Joseph was 90 and Mary was 12. Show me the chapter and verse and then I'll believe.

Don't believe everything you read. The Bible (which is considered the inspired word of God) makes no such statement about Joseph (the worldly father of Jesus). Obviously you are not a person with Christian beliefs or you would not make the statement in the first place.

Interesting numbers you have there, Darwin's buddy. I have never read anywhere the respective ages of Mary and Joseph. Joseph at 90 would have been one very very old duded - far too old to walk to Bethlehem.
Not that he did walk to Bethlehem, you understand. The story may well have been invented years after the alleged occasion.

I think you take this whole "Christianity" thing much too seriously, sort of like the antithesis of a Christian fundamentalist. I'm afraid that doesn't really answer your question, but I've seen you on before, and I just had to get that out.
And paedophilia is nasty. Bad Joseph.

Not that I doubt you but where exactly does it say Joseph was 90? Also if that was written it is highly unlikely to be true as virtually no one lived to 90 back then

the first problem here is that you are believing that a work of fiction,(bible) written by mortals is the actual word of God. maybe in 2000 years people will find a copy of Lord of The Rings and go digging for Middle Earth. do you get what i am trying to say?

you say "know better" as if that is what the world should think. in this society you were raised in, it was looked down upon. maybe it was because of the Christian values its based on. then again there are a lot of sexual abuse cases in churches. its not that people "didn't know better" back then. its because it simply was that way. who is to say it wont be like that again in the future?
