There's really nothing you can add to the completed sauce that wouldn't have an effect on the flavor. Even if you add plain water, the heat will be diminished, but so will the overall flavor of the sauce.

The only suggestion I can make is to use the sauce sparingly, when you put it on ribs or whatever.

You can dilute it with water, etc, but you may end up with a more watery sauce. If you don't mind having more sauce around, you can always double or add a quarter more, etc. of the recipie that you used but omit any of the spice (ie hot peppers). Cream based ingredients tend to cut the heat too.

When I make salsas that are too hot I usually add tomato or tomatoe sauce but I dont know if that would work with hot sauce.

i would thin it out with some straight tomato sauce. this will give little flavor, but spread the heat. i used to do that too:)

it depends what you want to have with it you could probably add coconut milk or plain greek yogurt
