I would like to sign my 6 year old up for cub scouts. How do I find a group that's closest to my hometown?

Hello:

Try http://www.joincubscouting.org/ and enter your postal zip code. This will give you a list of packs and contact people in your area.

I would suggest you visit a few with you son and make a decision on which one will be the best fit for your family. Some units are huge and do many things, but the boys get lost in the shuffle. Some are small, don't do as much, but the boys get to know each other better and form stronger ties.

Good luck, and Keep on Scoutin'

Check the phone book to see if there is a local Boy Scout Council office in or near your town. They can tell you where the various groups meet.

A lot of Cub Scout packs are sponsored by churches or schools. Check to see if any of the ones close to you have a Scouting program.

If there is no group nearby, you can ask your church or school if they are interested in starting one!

If you put " Boy Scouts" and your city into a search engine, it may pop up a troop or pack website ( A pack is a group of Cub Scouts --a troop is Boy Scouts.)

Look under local on your Yahoo home page and type in Boy Scouts of America this should give you the local boy scouting offices. Call them and ask about cub scouts.
