You should keep both of them! With FireFox, you can use add-ons and themes, but some websites don't work with it. When that happens, you should use internet explorer. Also, the antispyware and antivirus programs don't have any affect on which browser to use.

As for the presence of AVG, ad-aware, and spybot, they have nothing to do with whether you should use Firefox or Internet Explorer. (All three are good! Keep 'em! And keep 'em up to date! And scan once a week!)
As for whether to use Firefox or IE, my vote is with Firefox, but try both awhile, and test your comfort. If you choose Firefox someday, keep a copy of IE around anyway. It won't hurt for both to live on your computer, and some software (notably, but not only, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office) is mean-spirited enough to INSIST that you download its updates using IE.
As for reasons to use Firefox, *I think* it's faster, easier to use, and you can "modify the heck" out of it using all kinds of "add-ons" (though, be careful which ones you choose, as some of them may slow down Firefox). I found IE to be kind of "bloated". And, as a website designer, I have a *personal* vendetta against IE's refusal to adhere to many website design standards...

This comes down to personal preference.
I will always recommend FireFox as there are endless possibilities with addons available from the mozilla site.
Unlike most microsoft software, it is thoroughly tested at beta stage before final releases are made public, and that means you get no crashes, maximum performance and the best experience.
Hope this helps.

Most people at our computer club use mozilla firefox. Many have uninstalled IE-7 for miscellaneous reasons.

It's better to use MS IE7 if you use Microsofts OSs.
