We do not put Jesus ahead of God. We put him at exactly the same level. There is a reason for this.

We believe he is God.

I think for many of us in the Christian camp, we find Islam's approach to Mohammad perplexing. You acknowledge that he is a man, and yet you have a superstition that his name cannot even be said without adding, "sallalahu aleyhi wasallam." You celebrate his fasting, you celebrate his breaking of the fast, and you celebrate his birthday (Eid-Milad-un-Nabi) even while vociferously objecting to Christians who celebrate Christmas. You study spurious hadiths written hundreds of years after his death to find out what he ate, how he dressed, and what his opinions were, even though these much later Hadiths are probably not a real reflection of that.

So the same could be said of Muslims - why is Mohammed treated with devotion more proper to God?

For one, there's a big difference between a prophet and a savior. I wouldn't bow down and worship a prophet, but I'd do that for my savior in a heartbeat.

And we do not put Jesus before God since the two are one in the same. But consider that the bible says Jesus created the universe, Jesus saved us from eternal damnation and Jesus will judge the righteous and the unrighteous.

Are you beginning to understand why Jesus is more than just a prophet. He IS God!

All the Abrahamic religions believe in God. However only Christianity believes in Jesus' divinity. We tend to put emphasis on things that make us unique. That's also why LdS missionaries seem to emphasize the Book of Mormon more than the Bible; they assume that the people they are teaching (most likely Christian of another denomination) is already familiar with the Bible.

OTOH, many Christians believe that Jesus is God, so worshiping Jesus is worshiping God.

Actually, he's not put ahead of God. Jesus is God. Many Christians believe that God has 3 persons, Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. All equal. It's just that we relate best to the Christ because while being God he was also man.

Well, Jesus and God are actually the same. I believe in the trinity...God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit...all the same rolled into one. God sent Jesus to us. Jesus is what saves us and sends us to heaven. Only through Him and believing in Him will allow you into heaven. I don't necessarily think you should put one ahead of the other.

Not all Christians place Jesus ahead of God. Myself for one. I believe that Jesus was indeed the son of God, so for that reason I honor him, but God is still # 1

Most Christians believe that Jesus IS God, so technically, we're not putting Him "ahead" of God. He's just a manifestation of God in human form. That's what we believe, anyway.

For Christians:

Jesus = God

&

Jesus = Son of God

...Jesus being God gives Him the ability to be anything, including his own son...sounds weird, but God can do anything, including what seems impossible...

...thus Jesus is not put ahead of God because Jesus and God are the same...that sounds weird too but no less true...

...also, it is believed that God wanted us to know that He knows what its like to be a human, so He came to earth and was a human in Jesus...
