I'm asking this again in hopes of getting more responses
I will be picking up my Papillon puppy next week. He will be 8 weeks old. I'm a little worried about his ears. I have papers which state that he's a purebred, and I know that doesn't mean much but... he's also registered with the AKC. I've seen other papillons that they've bred and they are older but look perfect. I feel like his ears should be a little bigger than they are. His nose looks a bit wide as well (in the pics in the link don't mistake the white near his nose for his nose). Is this normal and will his ears grow as he gets older? He's pretty fuzzy which I like and he's very cute with good markings. His ears are really my only concern. He's only going to be a family pet but I want people to recognize him as a papillon. I already paid for him becuase the pictures of him t really little look very normal. The older picture is him at almost 7 week. (maybe 6 weeks and 5 days.)

He looks just fine. Please remember that since he's been placed with you as a pet, there must be a few minor faults that would keep him out of the show ring. Muzzle and ear size might be the only things keeping him out of the show ring. When he grows up, he will be called a long-haired chihuahua and you'll be asked what mix breed he is not mantter HOW perfect he is! LOL Papillions are not very recognized by the general public. I have a blue merle show dog that people ask me all kinds of funny questions about. My own husband's mother said, "Oh my! How OLD is she!?!?! She's all GRAY!!!" LOL Just educate them with good humor and enjoy your puppy. Good luck.

Not all papillons ears are stand ups and no one can guarantee that not even the breeder, when they don't stand up they are called Filandz I think that is correct spelling. But that is the fact. You are getting the dog way too early A really good breeder would never let a papillon go to a home before 12 weeks. You have just bought your puppy from a puppy mill.

He's a cutie! Yes, his ears will grow. They look bigger on adults also because the hair grows and hangs in that typical "butterfly" shape that they are known for. Individuals of a breed can look very different. There is a standard that professional show breeders go by, and that the dogs are judged by, in the AKC world. Is the breeder you are using go by this standard? There are excellent and poor specimens of every breed. Or is it someone just breeding pets for a hobby. AKC only means they have papers on both parents, it is by no means a guarantee of quality or health.

Training a puppy is lovely difficult and each person has distinct approaches. A tip my mother makes use of for her hyper 10 month ancient st. Bernard is while you first come house don't provide your puppy any awareness in any respect. After approximately half-hour you provide her a few awareness and after forty five return to common. It indicates the puppy that they dont make the principles. Everytime I move to my mothers apartment I instictly puppy the St. Bernard instantly she will get manner excited and really unruley and stressful but if my mother will get house she says calm. A;approaches preserve contemporary water out, becareful to degree the quantity of meals you provide by way of the luggage directions or just a bit extra- an obese puppy may have many well being disorders. IF your puppy has had all three dog photographs from a vet hospital then she shall be great to head external if its been three weeks from the final shot! Walk your puppy plenty to burn power and avoid dangerous habits made out of being bored! Good success!

With most breeds, the ears don't change much in proportion with the body -- some may even get smaller. His ears don't look much like Papillon ears, but he is as CUTE AS A BUTTON! good luck with him!

Give him time to grow!! In a couple of months you should notice the difference.

If you are really concerned ask your breeder to see before pics of the parents. Or other pictures that she may have.

Still, he is a cutie!!
