Metro North and NJ Transit both.
There's shuttle buses to the Commons.
You would have a far easier ride on a bus.
From Conn you have to go to Grand Central and from Grand Centrl to NY Penn and from NY Penn to the Main Line to one of the NY state stations.
I think I drove from NJ to Rapid City South Dakota quicker that this trip will take you.

Hi,

Unfortunately, there are no direct rail route from Connecticut to Woodbury Commons.

Basically the only commuter rail lines that cross the Hudson River are NJ Transit and PATH. Metro North does run some West-Of-Hudson service, but it's isolated from the rest of the Metro North system that goes to Grand Central Terminal.

Your best way of getting to Woodbury Commons would be by bus-- there are buses that go there from the Port Authority bus terminal on 42nd Street in Manhattan, or there might be buses direct from Connecticut. The only other option is by car.

Hope this helps a little.
