they stayed with us for two months. They night flighted along with some tools and a ring of mine and I woke up to find that she had left her pit bull choke chained to our garage door. Sweet, huh? We have two dogs already, not to mention two small children. The dog is sweet and all, but my m-i-l left her the wrong way. Does anyone know of a pit bull rescue or sanctuary? Or even a nonfighting breeder that would want her? Like I said, she's got a good disposition despite how she was treated, but still upsets the balance. Thanks in advance..

I am not sure where you are, but here's a list of rescues for pit bulls:
http://search.yahoo.com/search?search=pit+bull+rescue&ei=UTF-8&fr=ks-ques&ico-yahoo-search-value=http%3A%2F%2Frds.yahoo.com%2F_ylt%3DAoOEwuYjUWOrOHk7nxV6PibL7BR.%2FSIG%3D11idk90v5%2FEXP%3D1183667297%2F*-http%253A%2F%2Fsearch.yahoo.com%2Fsearch&ico-wikipedia-search-value=http%3A%2F%2Frds.yahoo.com%2F_ylt%3DAg6OmE3yvUsoddBrvji.gmDL7BR.%2FSIG%3D1210hv775%2FEXP%3D1183667297%2F*-http%253A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FSpecial%253aSearch&p=pit+bull+rescue
Many rescue organizations will have "transports" if there's not one near your area. You make arrangements with the rescuers, then they will contact an animal rescue group in your area to see if a transport is happening soon. Hopefully, they can get the dog on the transport (they usually have to rent a van and call for volunteers to drive hour-long "legs" of the trip). I know it sounds like you have your hands full, but even if you can donate $20 to the effort, it will help. Or maybe you'd be willing to drive one of the legs.
Anyway, I hope your mother-in-law takes a long walk off a short pier. Just remember that her karma will catch up with her. I hope you and your family can get over what she did to you and that you won't allow her or her cronies to visit you again.
Good luck! :)

You could possibly bring her to your local animal shelter, but unfortunately, many places will immediately put pit bulls to sleep, regardless of their temperment. Depends on where you are located, you might be able to find a non-kill shelter or a rescue group that will be able to take her in.
http://www.pbrc.net/ This provides some good resources about the breed, proper placing techniques if you want to find her a good home yourself.
http://www.bull911.com/pitbullrescue.php This site lists some local rescue groups specializing in pitbull rescues. If you can't find a place nearby you, then run a search with the largest city close to you and "pit bull rescue". Something should pop up.
I wish you and that poor dog luck. Sorry about the mother-in-law as well. Hope you find some justice somehow.

Please consider sterilizing this animal before placement. You are efforting to find a home or sanctuary.Creating more would be a sad commentary.
Try calling your local shelter for a list of "breed specific" rescues. In many areas pitts are illegal or homeowner may lose their insurance carrier as well. This is so for a number of breeds thanx to irresponsible owners & breeders.
Also go online and check out "petfinders"
There is another group called "People needing dogs"
Plenty of rescues will be featured. Some may be in your area or state.
Often local papers will run an add for free when placing a rescue or dumped animal.
Never give a FREE animal(unless a checked out rescue)
Potential owners should have an investment in their pet.Ask perhaps for the sterilization & vaccination costs back.
Just a few ideas.
You might also write down a few questions before placing.Do they own or rent, any other pets, who is their vet,any children & what age, fencing & the list goes on.

Why not placed the toddler away once you're vacationing rather? If his autism is unquestionably that undesirable, then you would desire to maintain a watch on him 24/7. There are each sort of problems that a toddler can get themselves into while parents are not around. as far through fact the canines is going, s/he behaved as any canines certainly will. the toddler pestered him/her for a protracted time, and she or he gave him a warning to "lower back off." thus far as canines "turning," 9 situations out of ten it rather is circumstances like those. parents who don't recognize a thank you to regulate their young ones who think of their canines would desire to easily sit down there and take in spite of the fact that abuse and nagging their young ones dish out, who're then taken aback while the canines get uninterested with it.

call some rescues in your area and you can google those and see if there are any in your area . also you might try craigslist for your area. I would be so upset with your m.i.l. your hubby should say something to her and let her know that her dog was not a welcome sight first thing in the morning .

If you are in the UK get rid, they are illegal here, otherwise take it to a dog rescue centre, you certainly don't want it around your children because they are unpredictable.
