Drinking...not so much that you are drunk, they won't let you board, but just happy. You can also ask your Dr for a prescription to calm you down, IE Valium. Just don't do both!!!

You should write to your nearest major airport explaing your fear of flying. They will often reply offering free sessions at the airport showing you round a plane, sitting in a simulator and answering any questions and generally making you feel more comfortable about flying. If you then do decide to fly it is also worth stating your common fear of flying when booking with an airline as they will often see to you having a little extra TLC whilst on the flight and may offer you a choice of preferred seat.
Anyway airports and airlines are fully aware of the fear of flying and are pleased to offer help and support.

"When you are in a flight, don't worry about things that would go wrong because every thing will be fine, a steward will assist you in a lot of ways and they are to help you while in a flight, relax your self don't feel tense, just imagine those crews and stewardess/ stewards that goes and of the plane every day life, if you have a head ache on flying, you should eat more often like a snack will help you, when you're flying and ready to take of, make sure you swallow some saliva or water in able to relief your sense of hearing. You can always ask some questions on the stewards, on what time you will arrive or how long it would take etc."
All things will be fine, have a happy flight!

You have to believe that flying is actually the safest way of travelling. Anxiety symptons is horrible to deal with so if your going on holiday ask your doctor to prescribe a couple of Valium for you, just 2 mg take an hour before you fly, so all you need is 2 tablets, 1 each way, because there very addictive. If you have no joy with the doc, then try Kalms. Over the counter tabs. To the woman who said, take valium and vodka, your a sick tart, it can kill you. (Recovering drink and drug addict). Who do you think you are giving such bad advice to someone who is honestly scared of something.

My Friend the Best way to get over a fear is to Face Your Fear. I my self was afraid of flying and i came to realize that there is only one way to educate my self upon the topic of flying and then to face it face to face. Be Strong My Friend.

Stop thinking about 9/11, and that's why we have too many scary cats when it comes to traveling by plane. Don't mean to be rude, but there is no reason to be afraid of flying. Yes traveling by plane can get nervracking, if you are a first time flyer.

My boss says that she started by taking a short trip. She flew to a place that would take around 3 hours by car and then she would go a little further and so on. She says this really helped her. She also says it helps to have anxiety medicine and a friend to fly along with.

The symptoms you feel as fear are caused by adrenaline which is the same hormone that causes exhilaration. That's why people choose to go mountaineering and bungee jumping. The only difference to fear and high excitement is your attitude to it.
You can switch between the two. You just need to convince ourself that flying is exciting and you're really looking forward to it.

I just usually keep my seatbelt fastened until the plane lands unless I have to get up for something, like using the washrooms.
Also, it really helps to study the emergency foldout provided for you in the back of the seat ahead of you.
