Gods Ancestors: Unabridged Wayne & Carolyn Thornton Conflict - Chapter 2
"When faced with a choice between two diametrically opposed theories, philosophies, or statements of facts; do not simply find their common denominators; like all common negotiators have done so in the past.
Instead, fancy your delight with a test run at believing both sides as being correct, true, and/or reasonable."
Please, do not confuse this with the "GAP" theory; a theory that, when faced with an irrefutable fact that contradicts a part of one's belief, one simply abandons that part, in order to preserve the other, unsupportable or unjustified, parts of one's dogma or belief.
The GAP theory is not an open-minded approach. The differences are easily discerned by the motivation of the participant.
The open-minded theorist is motivated to gain knowledge and discover the truth of the matter.
The GAP theorist is motivated to maintain his empire, at all cost. Does the Roman Catholic Church ring a bell?
Confession of bias: I suppose as a "born again" Christian, I would stereotypically be in the Creationist camp. However, like the Catholic Church, I believe in evolution. We both, very importantly espouse that God was and is involved.
(sorry for the copy and paste from one of the books we wrote.)

I am not sure what or which theory you are referring to specifically. There is more than one Gap theory. 1. the theory of what happened BEFORE genesis 1:1. 2. the theory of two creation stories in Genesis 1. 3. The gap of what happened BETWEEN the old testament and the new. 4. The gap between Jesus childhood and his adolescence.
There are several gaps. But these are just a few I wrote down, I believe there is plenty more. There is plenty more and some of us don't understand the purpose for the Bible and the God of the BIble. Read Deuteronomy 29:29 before proceeding. The Holy Spirit has caused to be written ALL that is necessary for our salvation.
Please read this very important text also:John 21:25 before proceeding.
Theories will come and theories will go, but the word of God is here to stay and has overcame every onslaught. Books have become outdated, but the Bible is always up to date.
Theories is exactly what they should be----theories. And you would never think of them, until an evolutionist, atheist, agnostic, deist, philosopher and a doubting scientist comes along and produce them. But what or who is it that inspires them?

interesting question, but the Gap Theory states just that: that there is a gap in the bible between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 that would otherwise address the human past and the age of the earth. So, if anything, it would be an absence of "scripture" that would lend support to the Gap Theory (by definition).

if it was the first day how could there be a gap before it?
Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day
no gap in creation 6 days and 1day to rest, that is 7.
every time it is the evening and the morning were (1 day): this is one day: Gen 1:8, 13, 19, 23, 31,

The gap theory is just a theory to fill in blanks of what we don't know. I don't find any scriptural support for the gap theory.
I take the Bible as God's Word and I have no trouble believing that God could have created the earth in six literal days.
God spoke and it came to be. Just look at Jesus. He said "Be still," and the storm stopped.
I was taught evolution in school and really struggled in my faith for a while until I learned that it was just a theory. So many theories out there, and people desperately trying to find proof for their theories, so they can find a VALID ? reason to continue in their rebellion against God.

B&B, I really think A&F is more into message t-shirts.
What the f is a gap theory? Dr G, there's simply no polite way to say this but simply because it's you asking I can say, categorically that the answer is NOT what you're thinking. Further, there is nothing in scripture that credibly refutes evolution.

PErsonally I have never heard anyone refer to THE GAP THEORY. SO not sure what it is, so I cant comment on that. But I do know about Creation versus evolution.
God said He created us all, and thats settles it for us all. The thoery of big bang and evolution is all a lie.
Now, is there change EVOLVING within a species over time, yes. As we age, we change, and as ppl or animals are in colder or warmer climates, things change, but you dont become a nother specieis. there is change within a species that is part of Gods intelligent deisgn.
As a youn ggirl, I was one way, and I did much changed over the years. Now at 61, many changes have come and gone. BUt I am still a female. I didnt become male, nor did I become monkey or fish, or half one or the other. I am still the female God created me to be. YOu can put a fish in colder water and it changes in color. BUt its still fish Doesnt change into a chicken, you know. God created us to do certain chaning to help protect us, but He did create and design us, and we stay within our specieies PERIOO. ANything else is a lie of science, and God forwarned us of all of this. YEP. We just need to know what He says, then we KNOW what to belive. Press on with Jesus and truth.
