They should be made to pay back any child support collected and be charged with perjury.

If they have collect child support over the years I feel she must pay that money back. She (her child) received it under a lie. She will also be punished by her child. Can you imagine how you would feel being told your whole life that someone is your father only to find out later that he is not? I would be very angry with my mom and wonder what else she has been lying about.

I'm not sure they could really make a punishment for that because a man should insist on a DNA test and not believe the women if there is any doubt. the only way there could be a punishment is if she flat out said he was the father in court and was known to be lieing becuase that is purjury

It is up to the courts to determine the penalty, but sometimes it isn't fines or possible jail time or community service.......to have to stand before the person wrongfully accused and publicly admit the lie and say one is truly sorry just may be the harshest penalty of all.

How do you know it's a lie when they may actually honestly believe it's the truth? The only way to prove that they were wrong would be to do a DNA test, because they couldn't know for sure otherwise. That wouldn't prove that they lied though, that would only prove that what they believed was wrong.

To quote James Baldwin,

"People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become. And they pay for it very simply; by the lives they lead. "
