When does one receive these undergarments? Do you receive them when you get married in the temple, or at some other time? Are they really as hideously ugly as people say they are? I can't imagine feeling sexy for my husband in old lady mormon undies......

A worthy Latter-day Saint can choose to go to the Temple to receive their endowment once they are over 18 and spiritually ready. For men this tends to mean before they go on a mission, and for women it is when they get married, but it can be any time.

The garment is give during the ceremony and has several meanings. First, it is worn beneath the clothes (although I wear mine over my regular underwear, so it's an extra layer, not underwear) and must be kept covered, so it ensures that our clothing is modest and we are not flaunting our bodies.

Second, it is a daily reminder of the covenants we have made with the Lord. Many Christians like to wear crosses, or fish pins; many leaders of other churches wear vestments or dog collars. These tell other people about their faith - the garment is to remind the wearer.

Third, they protect us from evil. Were I to wander from the straight and narrow and be taken in by some smooth-talking good-looking guy, my garments would represent the last line of defence against falling into sin. They are my spiritual armour.

A fourth purpose is told in the Temple, but is something we do not divulge because it is sacred and personal.

Garments are not hideous; they come in all sorts of fabrics from a gorgeous light satin to one with 9% lycra. Neither are they hot (I live in Britain so I'm generally glad of the extra layer!) since they are available in very light fabrics. And for the cold British winters they are available in Thermal too. They are much cheaper to buy than regular underwear since they are subsidised by the Church, and it is a privilege to wear them.

The pictures posted by another answerer didn't exactly show them at their best. Who would wear them tucked in, for one thing? And like I said, you can wear your sexy lingerie underneath...

Personally, I think my husband wouldn't find me sexy without them. Every time he watches me undress he is reminded that I am faithful and true, that I love my Heavenly Father, and that I am eternally married to him. That's what turns my man on. (Probably too much information.)

No, this is genuinely real. Mormons placed on magic underpants they call "clothing". They acquire this undies while they circulate by way of non secular rituals of their temple while they attain early adulthood. Or, in the event that they convert later in existence, while they circulate in the process the temple the 1st time. those clothing have magical symbols on them that have non secular meanings for them. they suspect those clothing can furnish the two actual and non secular protection. some mormons have faith the memories approximately how their undies has secure Mormons from actual injuries. different much less gullible Mormons see this as greater of a symbolic form of protection. Mormons could desire to placed on their magic undies in any respect cases different than while figuring out, having intercourse or bathing. clothing are to be worn below the undies, if further undergarments are to be worn. usually, women human beings placed on a bra on good of their magic jammies.

A Mormon can receive them when they get their temple endowment - not necessarily at their marriage. The garments aren't bad, they are just very, very hot because they cover you from your shoulders to almost your knees. Since I'm thinking you are a Mormon, I will leave my answer at that . . .

When you receive your endowments in the temple, you receive your garments.

They are not ugly. They aren't Victoria's Secret, but they aren't ugly.

And as far as feeling sexy for your husband, well, I guess it depends on you and your husband. You can certainly take them off when you and your husband want to "feel sexy".

edit, sunnyannie, well said. I think that's what I was trying to say.

I heard about the holy mormon drawers, and I thought this was a fable, but too many people have commented on this in all seriousness. I am interested to see your answers.
