I agree, I would like to teach anyone the truth if I can and they are open to it.

This question is funny because when a Christians ask the same kind of question, most atheists respond offensivly. Also, some offensive awnsers like :"I just don't want them to think I respect their religion" hopefully will make people see what some of the atheists here on R&S are all about.

I used to like atheists around here more, but lately, what became as somewhat funny discution is escalating fast to this kind of nonsense, and from what i can see on R&S atheists are to be blaimed for it (of course, there are always the ocasional so called christian whacko, but lately i believe even that is the result of the meaningless provocation).

I havent been here on Y!A for long, but atheists around here used to be better.

In his head, he's going to Heaven. The fact that he is unable to question or open his mind. The fact that he believes in a God without a shred of evidence, because that is what he was taught (by man, ironically!). The fact that more wars and bloodshed have been caused in the name of religion than anything else on the planet doesn't matter to him. He believes he's going to Heaven.

Which I suppose does make him quite ignorant.

I think one of the things that separates the Atheists and Agnostics from the religious folks is the steadfast devotion to NOT preaching to the people around you. Part of it stems from the fact that people who are fully devoted to a religion can't be reasoned with -- there's just no way you can shake their belief in what they've been taught and likely indoctrinated with their entire lives.
So in short...you can try, but I don't think you'd have much luck.

My greatest regret was not being able to free my mother from Christianity before she died. It is terribly sad seeing people so miserable with their minds schackled by ignorance. I feel it is my duty as a fellow human being to try and save them.

You do not have the power to save us. You can destroy the body but God will save our soul when we trust Him.

You are just missing out, we do not die in ignorance.

We are all ignorant. Can you live in peace with that person, no matter what they believe? Can you live in peace with yourself if you should create turmoil between you?

There are ways to talk about the things that interest you, but if you are focusing more on their ignorance than your own, perhaps you are distracting yourself.

Christians can do or die as they like, as long as they don't screw around with atheists' lives.

And unfortunately they do.

They like the ignorance. I just don't want them to think I respect their religion or it's ideas though.
