Each religions has some message for us but we humans love dividing people on the basics of religion.
This is wonderful reading and yes I agree to this.
How to be noble, gentler is best shown by Buddhism.
Muslims and Judaism have faithful followers with aggression.
same with the other religions. Guess if Hinduism gets all these points then ?

" Sri Aurobindo-the great hindu philosopher"

Sri.Arabindo was a revolutionary against the British rule in Bengal,(India)-British police started chasing him.Bipin Chandra Pal was the Grand Leader at that time in Bengal..Arabindo came to Pondichery-which was under French rule-.it was what all revolutionaries including Subramanya Bharathi did at that time. British Government could not arrest them,as French were not co-operating.In due course Arabindo started concentrating on Religious/Philosophical matters and established Aravinda Aashram. He lived upto a ripe old age of 85+
A foriegn lady(I do not know her country of origin) was assiting him-She was called "Amma"=Mother. After Aravindo she took over the Ashram. She started AUROVILLE an International Community settlement Project, which fissled out after Amma. There are quite a few followers of Aravida Ashram and sri.Arabindo's Philosophy. With all my high respect and reverence to him, I have difference of opinion his comments on sri Sankara's Adwaitha Philosophy.

I am afraid that people who wrote like this about christinity and islam hav done so without reading the Bible and the koran fully and well. This much I am sure and am prepared to discus and argue with any one .as regards the other religions also the same might t be the case though I am not sure about them. I can nit agree with the views of some very popular and great men even when they are found to be wrong .just because the men who said are popular .

Hinduism alone accepts other religions are also a way of life and path to knowing the Truth including Atheism, unlike many other religion which donot accept this including Atheism. Its no wonder our beloved Sri Aurobindo said that.

Absolutely all religions have the potential to do good. Unfortunately, they also have they potential to be used as a means of justifying evil. Jim Jones and the People's Temple did good work getting people off drugs, helping the poor and fighting for civil rights, but he turned it into something so evil that it ended with the deaths of over 900 people. I think we should all strive to learn from all the religions and take from them what we can implement in our lives to help others and make the world a better place.
Namaste,
Channa

I am not that much learned and have no comparative study of other religions. But I feel and believe your statement totally incorrect. Aryan civilisation has given the whole universe the gift of Vedas & Upnishadas. Some fundamental theorums are illustrated by Puranas. Over and above all, Bhagavan Yogeshwara has given Shreemad Bhagavad Geeta which the eldest of all thoughts you have mentioned. What ever you mention is already in our scriptures and these people have studied it and used it for use their followers / believers.

The statement is non-combative and that has a certain amount of appeal. However the merit is not in the religions or belief, the merit is in the MOTIVE of a persons heart. If a person is sincerely searching for God then God will come to him. In life there is what we call authentic and then there is something less. Jesus is the authentic and all the fullness of God is in Him.

It is extremely important to make a distinction between a genuine religion in its original pure form, and the distorted ideas that some people follow in the name of that religion.
All religions (including atheism, which is a negative form of religion, just like clouds are only a manifestation created by the Sun and would not exist without it) are based on four basic principles:
1. truthfulness, also defined as honesty or sincerity,
2. compassion, also defined as love and communion and unity
3. cleanliness, also defined as purification and self-improvement
4. austerity, also defined as self-control, self-discipline or gravity
A “religion” that preaches deceit and unethical behaviors, indiscriminate violence and cruelty towards innocent creatures, or does not recognise the need for self-purification and self-control is actually not a religion.

Yes I think, every religion is somewhat helpful for mankind. As long as the goal is to go back to Godhead.what is the use of so called religion if in the end,you cannot attain the surpreme.
I think, the most important thing is,that we develope love for God,whatever name he/she/it may have.
Religion should be practice in a peaceful way.Every believer should accept that there are different religion and that they have all the same goal...goin back to godhead. But as long as we are fighting wars, because of religion, religion doesn't help anyone. It is just an excuse,to commit murders...."I am Christian, you are Muslime we have to fight, because we do this for centuries"...how can we love God if we are thinking in such way???

Sorry I think,I missed the topic-again! ;-)
What I want ot say is,as long as we are fighting because of our beliefes, religion won't help anyone

I concur with most of the statements. But what about Mysticism? Understanding when taught is one thing. By one's own study is another. Understanding without information is Intution which is the bed rock of Mysticism. Mystics are philosophers, and great thinkers. But philosophers and thinkers are not Mystics. What is to be known is the SELF. In fact it is always known but not cognised. This is the way of life.
