We were created to go through life as a test and worship God. But why he wants us to worship him? God wants attention? God wants to feel empowered?

As some might say, "He gave us everything we need for life, why not be grateful to Him and thank him for it."
Why should we be thankful for something we didn't choose? Was I given the choice to live and be in this life? No.

Life is not a test, it is an experience. God doesn't require worship. He just wants to experience life through you and me. God needs no attention. She wants you to try to remember Who You are and where You came from and to enjoy Your adventure here. I believe the only thing that the Creator wants from us is that we do not hurt each other or any of Her creatures. We are sadly lacking.

Our worship is not some outward objective form or ritual before God as believers in Him. The true worshippers of God do so in spirit and truthfulness. The teaching that God only wants man to worship Him is what has been taught to us, but it may actually miss whats really on God's heart.
When God created man He did not ask man to worship Him. He created man in His Image to express God and He gave man authority over all things so that man can carry out God's authority on the earth. He also put man before the Tree of Life and desired that man would eat of this Tree and have a way to possess eternal life.
So we see three things.
Expression
Dominion
Eating of Him as the Tree of Life
To think that God only wants worship from us is too small.. rather God wants man to partake of Him as our spiritual food so that we can be those containing Him and expressing Him with His Authority on this earth.
There is an enemy of God who would want us to think that our christian life is only a series of tests and worshipping outwardly to appease God's need for attention. Does this sound like God or a thought from satan himself to distract us from the REAL purpose in God creating man
Man is the one who God choose to reflect Him on the earth.. redeemed men would be the children of God.. growing to be the sons of God in Glory.. the Joint Heirs of Christ.. the Counterpart and Bride of CHrist for eternity... Satan HATES THIS.. and will shut us into a mold of thinking all these wierd limiting thoughts of God.
God IS worshipped and there are angels in the heavens worshipping Him day and Night.. but our call is higher.. We are made to Contain and EXpress God. Our Living Out of God is our real worship... When we live and walk and talk and have our whole being according to the Spirit of God.. THIS is the real worship.
So praise the Lord.. we are called to the those worshipping in spirit and in truth.

Lets define worship. Worship is devotion. We become devoted to those that we love. Worshiping God, is something that you do everyday with your life and life choices to honor Him. Following Jesus and His teachings, is worship.
Praise and prayer to God is worship. Love songs to Him are worship. Wanting to be with Him is worship. His love for His children is like worship too.

worship as knowing who you are and your place .. respecting who created you and for what purpose .. God is higher than me and i acknowledge it and stand humbly before Him ... we go through life as not only a test but to realize the correctness of Gods way and to overcome evil by following that which is ryt ... that is what truley glorifys God.

I guess God isn't humble enough to accept us without praise. When i give a person something, i expect nothing in return so why should a almighty deity. But i guess i agree with everyone else's answers.

God wants us to love...to be filled with love because He is love...
...when you worship, you are filled with love..you're like so filled with love that all of a sudden you're like "dude, you're the bomb...
...so worship one of the easiest ways to feel the love that He wants us to feel..

If you come to an understanding of just who you are and what your true birthright is, then the question you have posed will automatically be answered!

No... we owe Him.
He gave us everything we need for life, why not be grateful to Him and thank him for it.
Worshipping is just another form of being thankful.
Let's not go too far, think of your eyes, if you couldn't see, what would your life be like? Or if you couldn't smell, or couldn't taste, or hear.
These are just simple examples, we owe so much, we just don't realize it sometimes.
Peace.
