People are going to hate you for asking this question. I hope you realize that, and I hope you don't care. It is a very good question, and I can just about predict the three kinds of responses you will receive.
1. Admiration for posing the question (nothing wrong with these....just not exactly an answer)
2. Those who will be quick to insult god because of his selfish need of followers (but think about it guys..... how can we blame god for wanting some companionship, the same way we want pets to love and take care of, and all we want in return is to be wontingly loved)
3. Those who will defend god probably before they finish reading your question (It is not possibly to love and appreciate someone without admitting that they may have done something wrong. Look at it this way: I love my parents, but I don't agree with every decision they ever made, and the more you think of it, the less free will makes sense. We could live perfectly happy without it, but is that any reason not to love god....absolutely not!!)
I tried to provide a middle road, but if you don't like it.....don't take it. *Ironic....no?* Now.....free will may not be perfect, but for the aforementioned reason, it can be pretty cool sometimes.

Of course angels were created with free will, for the very reason you pointed out. However, that has nothing to do with the creation of human beings, whom God created simply as an expression of His great love. It is kind of silly to think that the infinite God Who created the universe by an act of His will would feel the need to create something else for His own self-esteem.

If Lucifer, or everyone, had unfastened will, then no god could be all-understanding. An all understanding god could know the entire way forward for the universe top from its commencing up. using fact the universe is punctiliously knowable, it truly is punctiliously predictable. because it truly is punctiliously predictable, it could basically take place one way, devoid of techniques. this ability that there's no unfastened will, as all effects are desperate top from the commencing up. So if Lucifer had unfastened will, then god won't be able to be all-understanding. If god is all-understanding, then he knew Lucifer's strikes in the previous they took place, so Lucifer had no definitely unfastened will to alter that. If god have been all-powerful, then he ought to create uncertainty, consequently randomness that could enable unfastened-will, yet then he ought to no longer be omniscient. regardless of the indisputable fact that, this variety of god ought to no longer tension an results of a random journey, thereby contradicting omnipotence. Omniscience and unfastened-will are contradictory. Omniscience and omnipotence are contradictory. Omnipotence is contradictory with itself.

That's like saying, "If we already have a cat, why get a dog?" The answer is because we might want both a cat AND a dog.
In the same way, God creating angels to worship him is no reason to say humans were superfulous. Apparently, God wanted both.

Because people are happier when they have free will and he wanted us to be happy. The angels have free will in fact every creature God made had free will.
The angels choose to want power and worship.
We are only the beginning of all humanity. When the issue of universal sovernity is established in other words satan is gone and God is ruling with out his help.
We may fill the heavens and other planets with trillions of humans. God wants lots of creatures to have life and move and exist. What a kindness on his part.
We are happier being in existance and having life and so is everyone else who wants to live. We are only the beginning.

Satan wasn't an angel, angels are created from light, while Satan was created from fire.
The only reason Satan rebelled was because he was too proud to bow to Adam say "I am created from fire, how am I to bow for what You've created from clay? I am more superior then he is".
There's a big difference.
Besides, Satan and Djinn are also required to worship God.
Peace.

1) We are the angels.
2) We have always had free will...hence Lucifer was able to rebel
3) We used our free will to come here to be tested
4) This life is for us to CHOOSE and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we CHOSE...what we want to do with the rest of eternity.

Your question is the beginning of wisdom. I highly recommend the Gnostic gospels for your answer. The true God has no interest in being worshipped at all.
