Know the difference between Christians and "the world."
The world hates God and does not follow his command to "Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:29-31)
Christians, on the other hand, concsiously make the effort to keep this commandment. We all sin, so when we mess up and break this commandment, we ask for forgiveness and it's okay. Then we start all over.
The Catholic religion teaches that it is a sin to use contraceptives, but not all "Christians" hold this belief.
God commanded us to be fruitful and multiply, yes. Some couples have children and are using contraceptives to prevent having children that they cannot afford. I don't believe that is a sin.
Some couples are purposely using contraceptives to prevent having children because of their own selfish reasons (ie., partying, working too much, collecting pets) and children will cramp their style. I believe this is a sin because this demonstrates that these couples are not putting God first. They are catering to their own selfishness.
It's all about motive. Just like Cain and Able. Cain's sacrifice was not accepted as Able's because Cain's motive was all wrong. Check your motives. Why do you do what you do??

Well, first of all, Adam and Eve were told to multiply and replenish the earth. I think people take that and make it seem like they have to have a million kids because God told them to.

Kids are good, and can really add to the family dynamic, but if you can't pay for them, or have no emotional support to give them, then why have them? I would rather use birth control then have a baby every year, which is what women were doing before birth control came along.

Correction: In the Bible, the protagonist (God) commands the human characters (Adam and Eve) to be fruitful and multiply.

If God commanded us to be fruitful and multiply, then why are strippers so sad all the time?

"Be fruitful and multiply" doesn't mean procreate irresponsibly. If God didn't want people to enjoy sex or invent contraceptives, do you really think we'd have either of these capabilities?

God commanded us to be responsible citizens too.

He never said "Be fruitful and multiply as much as possible"

I don't think He meant everybody has to have kids. Some Christians take contraceptives because they aren't able to afford to raise children.

Remember that the commandment your referring to is in the old testament and it was in the beginning before the earth was populated.

It is called free will and we all have it. However some of us are meant to be barren and childless and some even to go through life without a partner so that we can devote our time to doing God's work.
