Well, I’m in college 3.3 gpa and 20. But everyday I wake up and I feel empty, not sad or disappointed but just bored, I go to school and play videogames all day. No question I want to finish my education, undergraduate in Chem, then hopefully med school for Psychiatry. So, I think I want to join the army and be apart of something, but I can’t decide if I should just sign up as enlisted, wait a few more years and do rotc, or just not join at all, moneys no real problem. I like the prospect of entering as an officer, but by that time there will be no real wars to fight in. If I do enlisted, I’ll probley see action, but I will have slowed down my education. Army provides discipline and structure which is what I need. If I do none of these I don’t know if I’ll just get bored and start slipping up in my grades, I suffer from ADHD and Dyslexia so it’s easy for me to get distracted and frustrated if I don’t stay on the ball. So, political ideologies aside, what do you think?

Wow, you almost sound like me when I was 20, which is when I joined the army. From what you have said, I think joining the army, or any of the other branches, would be a good choice for you. The discipline and structure will definitely help you succeed later in life, if you decide not to stay in the military.
Once you've been enlisted for a few years, you can have the option of of going to Officer Candidate School or Warrant Officer Candidate School. There's also an option called Green to Gold program, which lets you terminate your enlistment while you are paid full time yet go to college, and receive an officer commission once you graduate.
Joining the army will definitely give you the ability to find direction and motivation in your life, and will give you great opportunities for education. You should really make an appointment with a recruiter and learn more about your options.

Stay in school get the dergree's and if you still want to join the club give it a shot as a Doc. You must have one hell of an IQ to pull off 3.3gpa with your reading problem.
A regular enlistment would not be likely but that is a guess. All military branches try to avoid people that require extra effort in medical needs, training and performance once trained.
As a medical pro that may not be a problem.

I would recommend that you join the Air Force. If you go into the Army, you will most likely get shipped overseas to fight this senseless war in Iraq. The Air Force isn't over there that much, the AF isn't on the front line like they are. I know that the AF is like the Boy scouts of the military to alot of people, but it's not. Those individuals are wrong. They do more than alot of other people think. Air Force is a very distinguished branch of service, and gives you alot of discipline. You will learn alot from the AF, and you will certainly be part of something.
Hey here's a good fact for you: Basic Pay- $1,293 a month!
Don't mean to scare you, but if you join the Army, you are most likely going to come back in a body bag, just like about 3,500 of others have.
Watch the videos below to watch videos on basic training, alot better than the army where they are allowed to hit you if you do something wrong. That is not allowed in the AF.
WAIT!!! Hold on do not go into this too fast. Stay in school, and finish what you came there to do.

There's no doubt that the military WILL provide structure and discipline. And if you demonstrate some leadership qualities, you can get a leadership position even if you enlist. I'd say go talk to a recruiter, or even several from different branches, and see what they have to say.
But do so with one warning: recruiters are hurting right now, and some will promise you anything, as far as training, duty stations, etc. If you feel that what they say is too good to be true, trust your instincts and look for corroborating information from other sources.

Finish your degree for sure! Go in with rank and you will have better opportunities. If you are serious about wanting to sign up, make sure you research everything before you go into the recruiter's office, that way you know what to ask, and you will be in a better position to ask for it. Don't set your sights on one service branch, there are plenty of opportunities in all of them, you need to decide which offers you the best for what you want. As for seeing action, there is always a possibility for that. I am sure those who enlisted 10 years ago didn't realize that they could go to war. If all else, you could put in for overseas assignments and have that as an experience. You haven't said if you are married or not, so I am assuming you are able to make this decision based on just yourself. Good luck and Hope you get what you want.

I do agree with alot of the answers given so far....make sure to talk to friends/family that are military and get their opinion. FINISH YOUR COLLEGE!!!! You have a much better chance of getting in with a better rank/job if you do. If you do decide to sign a contract, make sure everything you want is in writing, not a verbal thing. Recruiters will promise you things that if they're not in writing, they don't have to hold up to. Make sure you know what you want to do before you go in...I know that when I was in the Navy, alot of friends that were undesignated tended to wish they'd gone in with a designation instead of chipping paint and swabbing decks. As for the ADHD and dyslexia, I'm not sure what to tell you. That is between you and MEPS.
Good for you for considering serving your country, though!

You can join a rotc program right now and finish out you're schooling right now, with no commitment to the army. Then if you like it you can get commisioned. I'd definatly suggest finishing school now while you can. Definatly Don't worry about missing out on the war. You'll get your chance to fight.

The ADHD and the Dyslexia alone will keep you from entering the US Army and if there are any drugs involved in the ADHD, that will definitely
prevent any enlistment with the US Military or the
US Army.
