Hopefully, just hopefully, it will be a fairly quiet, uneventful day. A day where laughter can be heard, good memories can be shared, and beautiful faces can be remembered. Maybe just one day without fear, or at least a few hours.
They will all be remembered, and appreciated. They are all in my prayers. You're right, freedom is not free.

They will spend it, sitting on the walls protecting their comrades.
They will spend it, patrolling streets searching for terrorists.
They will spend it, defending our freedoms so that later they will be able to spend it in freedom with their families.
And some having spent as those above, will spend it with their families whether it's their wives and children, their fellow soldiers, or with their fellow veterans enjoying the freedom they've earned, and/or waiting to protect those freedoms again.
From the AP: Also in the south, militants battled Afghan and U.S.-led coalition troops in three separate clashes, leaving 20 militants and one policemen dead, officials said Wednesday. Our Canadian allies took some losses today. Keep them in your prayers, as their independence day celebrations were only a few days ago.
Just remembered they've already nearly finished their 4th of July. Many troops also gathered at Bagram Air Base for a combat zone styled BarBQ, where an Afghan govenor thanked American soldiers for help in their own struggles for freedom.

Although they are away from their families on this wonderful holiday, they are protecting our ability to celebrate the birth of this great nation and the freedom that we are so lucky to have.
Thank you for your question and reminding us that there is a TRUE meaning to this holiday.

Some will take leave to be with their families, Some would Fight for our country, Some won't or can't celebrate, for they are distant, and away from us forever. Some would not fight on this day, Some of then would die on this day, Some would kill as many as they can on this day, Some shall make love on this day. Some would think of their families this day. Some have gone crazy this day. It depends on the person.
