Not only am I saving but I've done most of my Xmas shopping and wrapped it, also wrote my Christmas cards out just got to add recipitents name and addresses. Got over £800 of prezzies for £99 (75%off and buy 2 get one free offers with 75% off) in the after christmas sales. I always get "Oh you shouldn't have spent so much!" Little do they know how much I've really paid.

Financially, I have no need to save long ahead, I have a very small family and I can easily afford the presents I want to buy. But I 'save' neat gifts year-round; I like special gifts, stuff from art- or fantasy-fairs, hand-made items from ethnic stores, etc much better than just stuff that's on stock at major stores all the time. I put a couple of neat little things in my 'gift box' returning from a fantasy fair in April, that I'll probably end up giving my mom at Christmas.

I always stop shopping in July, I'm usually done by the end of September. I don't like the Christmas rush, it makes people cranky and I prefer to be happy that time of year.

Thanks so much for remining us...it comes round all too soon and it is a good idea to start now I suppose.

Though how do you deal with early presents if someone you have bought for goes and buys the same thing you bought for them between now and christmas....No on second thoughts I wait until November as usual.

There is something terribly wrong when you have to save up for nearly half the year to buy gifts for a one-day holiday.

We go to artisan fairs quite often during the year. If not, there would not be ANY presents for the in-laws.

I will not tolerate the holiday shopping season. So much cheesy, overpriced garbage.

It's good to start saving and source out things on discount now to fight the last minute rush.

I've bought most of my presents already in the January and June/July sales. I'm pretty much sorted.
