Well I think you should take your parents to your local pet store or breeder and show them how parakeets really are. If they still say no then ask why...go on in that conversation from there. To let my parents let me get a dwarf hamster I had to go through a very long argument .. then after a while of fighting they relised that there weren't too many downs of having a pet.(That is my secret weapon, fighting) Hope I helped!! ;) And good luck!!

Tell them that parakeets have beautiful songs (which they do! My keet have a beautiful voice), they can be messy, but as long as you change their cage at least once every 2-3 weeks, they'll be fine, and they are among the easiest pet birds to take care of! They are also very friendly, can learn to talk, and have a great personality. I convinced my parents that allowing me to get a parakeet, a cockatiel, and a snake will help me learn responsibility, while caring, loving, and nurturing these animals will help me develop good parenting skills.
I incorporate my pets into things that may come later in like, such as a family, college.

Parakeets are a little bit of a handful. I've had one for about 2 years and it's the only pet my mom will allow me to have. She actually liked when I suggested getting another bird. But my old bird is so sweet and nice and runs to me when I call him and the new one so far hates even being looked at. You just gata convince your parents if they don't like it after a week or two you can take it back. =)

i had a cockatail and they are messy. parakeets don't spend time with you they hate being held. do some research on birds and make sure a parakeet is the one. cockatails are very sweet. if you get one from a breeder it will probably be trained. mine loved to sit on my shoulder and play in my hair. Yes they are messy but what animal isn't? If you are firm on getting a parakeet, show your parents some GOOD things you found on the computer about them, and maybe throw in some extra chores if you know what i mean.
hope i helped!

Well, make sure it's a parakeet that you want first. Parakeets really are loud and most are very hard to tame-but that doesn't mean they can't be very sweet and loveable and tame. And of course they're messy, all birds are.. But they really aren't hard to take care of. I prefer cockatiels personally, but that's just me.

Say something like, '' If I get a parakeet I will not have a birthday present next year and I will do everything. I will also do extra chores and keep my grades up.'' Weird. When I asked my parents for a bird, they were like '' OF COURSE~!!''

Just do a lot of research online, and keep updating your parents. Also, ask around to see if you know anyone with a bird, and ask people who take care of birds at pet stores, but you should try and get a bird from a breeder rather than a pet store..they're usually a lot healthier, and sometimes trained.

First, you have to convince them that you are a responsible person. Are you? because pets of any type require a responsible owner. Your wants don't come before a pets needs.
