the biggest mouths and the most rigid rules(fro others) does not he best souls or suitors make.

i was shocked to hear the high rate of alcoholism in the fundamentalists but then when you think about it ..

standards almost no one can really keep

as the pendulum swings- push too hard one way and things have to even out sometime.

don't expect demanding hard rigid fundamentalist people to stay faithful and happy in marriage long term where much give and take and flexibility is required.

I have never understood why people assume that the Bible Belt means devoutly religious.

The Bible Belt was in the mid to early 1900's...times have changed.

Keep in mind that the marriage rate among Christians is also higher than non-Christians, who are more likely just to cohabitate without getting married.

With that said, Christians are people, too. We all have issues. Just because we're Christians, we're not perfect (yet) and in a marriage, the mistakes we make, the sins we commit, can destroy a marriage in the exact same way as it does for non-Christians.

Yes it should be lower, but the problem is that people no matter what will still do what they think is right in their own hearts.

I thought it was higher actually - attributed to all the people getting married without having sex first and then not being all that compatible.

I say no.

Being religious does not remove the frailties of being human from us.
