My other half does not want a girlfriend but does want someone to spend time with, do the do with occasionally and doesn't want to see other people - isn't that having a girlfriend but without saying I want a girlfriend.

Continue to see him if you want but don't put your faith in this man for the long term, it sounds like he wants to have his cake and eat it. He obviously wants to keep his options open so i suggest you do the same.

He wants the pleasures and benefits of having an exclusive girlfriend, however, fears the negative long term effects. One may be that sometime in the future, you two have been together for a while, but you leave him, or cheat on him, or something. The pain of love loss is much more greater than the pain of loss. He doesn't want the hurt to be magnified, and so, he fears deep-rooted commitment, but wants to be with you. Try and persuade him. Have him think otherwise. Make his fears frivolous. If you can get him to let go of his fears of long-term relationships, he'll be all yours...officially that is.

it's not fear of commitment, it's men being men.

A "friends with beinifits" relationship leaves the guy open to not paying for thing, buying gifts, being nice all the time, and can still flirt/hook up with other girls. But still be guarenteed to get some action whenever he wants it.

Be careful.

The moment ANY man makes a serious commitment to ANY woman...she'll NEVER let him back out of it!

A woman can always change her mind, but that courtesy isn't necessarily extended to a male!

tell him to do his own do and get lost.
you can do so much better.
Don't be confused, he should be able to afford a call girl and not bug any normal person to service his sexual needs.
