This question is of utmost importance to Christianity. It highlights the very core of Jesus message. However, to answer, you must understand the nature of sin and what it has done.
When God created Adam and Eve, He created them in the image of God. This means they desired the same things God desired. Their very nature was like God's nature. However, when Adam and Eve sinned against God, their nature changed. That is why God said in the garden, "Where are you?" God knew where they were. He asked this question because He no longer recognized Adam and Eve as the people He created.
This means that human nature became corrupted. We don't desire what God desires. We desire to do sinful things, and internally, we struggle and battle with sin. In this way, we have to restrain ourselves from sinning. When we try to stop sinning, we find it a great battle within us because it goes against our nature.
Jesus recognized this problem. That is why He said, "Everyone who sins is a slave to sin." We are slaves to sin because inwardly, it is our nature to sin.
As such, if we are to be set free from sin, then we need to experience a complete transformation. As Jesus said, "You need to be born again." We need to experience a new birth where our inward nature (our spirit) is transformed into a new spirit that aligns with God's nature.
That is the whole purpose of Jesus coming to earth. He came to offer Himself as the cure to the disease of sin. That is why He said, "Healthy people don't need a doctor sick people do. I have come to call sinners, not those who think they are already good enough."

I think Orion, that the original design was pure. Coming into a place where there is also an influence to encourages error, we find ourselves listening to the other voice that plays on our mind to experience and not to think about consequences for our behavior. Even when we know the right way, we choose the wrong way, because the temporal pleasure seems greater than the outcome. There may be other factors involved, like drugs or alcohol that open up channels for darkness to led us down the primrose path, to find that we are either in big trouble or regretting a hang over the next day. I don't think God has intelligently been involved in designing our life. I think we design it before we come and we bring all the junk with us so we can become masters over our self control and errors of the past. If you don't learn from your mistakes, you will keep getting situations until you figure it all out and stop your stupidity. If you don't hear the whispers, you will hear the screams.

First of all, God didn't design humans so that they found sin so enjoyable that they are unable to ever stop. He designed two perfect humans with the ability to exercise their "free will" to either obey Him or disobey Him. If He had done otherwise He would have nothing but two robots spouting words without though or emotional expression and etc. I noticed the first person immediately said you will get a bunch of "free will" answers. It didnt take a great deal of intelligence to deduce that because that is the facts, whether that person accepts them or not.
Eve chose to believe a lie and disobey God. Her husband did too. Sin entered into the world, and with it a great variety of ways for man to sin. To counter that - God sent His "ONLY BEGOTTEN" Son to die a brutal death and resurrect from the dead taking upon Himself punishment for all who would repent of their sin and accept His sacrifice in payment for their sin. This salvation is free and resolves the sin problem once and for all for those who believe with all their heart. The people who receive this salvation don't live in sin anymore, but when they do fail (EVERYONE DOES) they go quickly to the Lord for forgiveness and receive it. 1 John 1:7
I am sorry that you cannot see something so simple that even children can understand it. Perhaps this will enlighten you or perhaps you don't want to be enlightened because it does go past those who are tyring to analyze God and justify sin in their own lives. That is why it is based on faith, and faith is an extremely difficult thing to grasp for people who thrive on their intellectual understanding. I know because I am analytical and had a hard time exercising faith myself.
If you can get past your finite understanding and allow God to reveal Himself to you then you will understand and be able to answer your questions for yourself.

Actually your first analogy doesn't work as there are those who do painful things to themselves and get enjoyment from it, or they do it to either rid themselves of other pain or to help remind them they are alive. The intelligent designer (your term) gave free will. That free will allows you to make a decision not to believe. If we were not given this ability ( in your terms the addiction to sin) we would only be creatures without the ability to truly love. If you are having such a problem with your addictions might I recomend a twelve step group? Since you admit already that you have no control over your problems.

I am amazed fanofchan gives a prefect answer as to man could be created perfectly by the intelligent design of God something dougness86 said wouldn't happen. And what happens next he get a negative vote... What's the matter with Atheists, aren't they able to see that this was an answer and deserving of respect if not agreement? Jim

Satan is always there, pulling us into sin. God can help us with that sin, if we're willing to do so. But yes, we will never stop sinning because Adam & Eve sinned and that is the fait of the rest of us. Just remember, Satan will never stop. The more we sin, the more Satan is happy. He wants to see us suffer in the end, and that is all.

That wasn't "his" only unintelligent move. How about the one where "he" didn't create a mate for Adam? All of the other animals got mates. He even paraded all of them before Adam so Adam could pick one out. None of them appealed to his preference, so God created a woman from one of his ribs. So, it appears that the intelligent designer made a boo boo the first time. I guess even God has a learning curve. Who can believe this stuff?

GOD NEVER introduced sin into this world. Satan introduced it. Adam and Eve were drawn to it. This body that we have is attracted to sin. It may appear pleasureable, but, only brings harm to ourselves and others. For example, people who are obese find food pleasureable. However, gluttony can cause heart disease, stroke, etc.
GOD bless

Man was not originally created with a propensity to sin. With Adam, it all changed. Yes, we have a nature to sin - but it was not always so..........
Having a nature stronger than you can control, demonstrates to you your need for a Savior. Read the 7th and 8th chapter of Romans and see Paul's struggle with sin.
We need a Savior to forgive us and reconcile us to God (that's why it's called being born again) and we need God's Holy Spirit to overcome our sin nature. It can be done with God's help.

There are many interpretations of what "sin" is...it could be as small as stealing the pen at the post office or a 5 year old lying to his mother......to murder.
We're human and that means we are imperfect beings all of us.
The wording of your question is strange to me.
