First a person isnt born again from just "any" spritual experience. Remember, the Apostle Paul says; And no marvel; For Satan himself is transformed as an angel of light. Therefore it is of no "great" thing if his ministeries are transformed as ministers of righteous.
Being "born again" (according to the Scriptures) is a Spiritual Experience! The Spiritual Birth of being Born Again, is the Unexplained Mystery or Phenomenon of Salvation.
Today, many are asking the same question as Nicodemus did in John 3: 4; How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
The Mystery: That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Being "born again" (according to the scriptures) is a Spiritual Re-birth, a Spiritual Regeneration, and Spiritual Re-newing, anything, outside of this is not being "born again"
Being born again is a Spiritual Re-birh. It is as much a birth as the Physical birth is.
What is the Process? It's A Spiritual Baptism
For the Holy Ghost Baptism is His saturating presence purifying, (the fire) the heart of the individual, with the blood of
Jesus, (though yours sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be
as wool.) The Holy Ghost Baptism, in its simplicity is, being, Spiritually Purified, by the Blood of Jesus, by the Presence
of God - God The Holy Spirit. Whom, after the renovation, moves in, setting up a perament residence.
Spiritual Birth is the Experience
Spiritual Baptism is the Process.
And Faith, faith in the Death, The Burial and The Resurrection of Jesus Christ, after Repentance and Confessing, is "The Element" that opens the door to the Physical reality, of The Spiritual Birth.

A person is born again through the enlightment of rediscovering Jesus Christ. Before you were into material things, but now you have discovered spiritualism and are looking for more ways to communicate with God more closely. Your mind and the way you view things in life are refreshed. A new path awaits you. You walk in it, loving God all the way.

Their existence begins anew with a whole new agenda with many aspects of their life up to that point being cast aside. A spiritual experience inevitably brings immense joy into the heart and mind of whoever has had the experience. Think of somebody seriously injured in an auto accident - able to get out of their hospital bed for the first time in months. It is that kind of joy.

The New Birth
1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
9 Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”
10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.[a] 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but[b] have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”John 3 1-21

Yeah, in a sense that the spiritual experience is really moving the person to think in a different way. Many peoples outlooks have been changed in near death experiences, wision quests, and the use of psychedelics.

A person is "Born Again or Born anew", when the qualities
or attributes of God are imbibed into a humans heart and the negative or dark qualities and attributes are removed.
This is what Jesus (PBUH) was telling the disciples when he told them that they must be "Born Again".

I was born again when I had told God to get out of my life and utterly turned my back on Him.
For a while it seemed He turned His back on me, and life was a living hell.
Then one day, when I least expected it, and when I didn't know such a thing was possible, God spoke this word into my heart: "Maybe Jesus really did die for your sins."
With that one word I became born again, a totally different person on the inside, filled with love, peace hope and understanding of the truth about God.
I have loved him ever since. (over 36 years)

First of all, Born again Christians are merely deers in headlights (they actually look like that, too.)
However, to be born again spiritually basically means realizing one of your spiritual puzzle pieces on your pathway to enlightenment. This is your spirit realizing something for the very first time--and you can't do that from your head (intellect...belief systems), but only through your heart (feeling process).
When we are born, we enter into our soul experience...we try to comprehend the world around us. We speculate through the intellect about that which we don't know....but this blocks the flow from our spirit. The other culprit is dysfunction that compartmentalizes in our Kelee cone as thought form images. They become the lens through which we see the world. They are blocks and distort.
The best way to access your spirit is through stillness of mind. Wipe away dysfunction through stillness and you will start to operate from the true nature of your spirit and puzzle pieces will begin to abound. You will have been born again...in that the innate nature of your spirit will be one more step closer to enlightenment.

The verse where everyone gets "born again" from in John 3 could mean also literally "born from above."
It means that people that are not of God are unborn of him. God takes faith and combines it with the Holy Spirit from above (Heaven) causing your spirit to be transformed into a new creation in Christ.
