OK well a 2nd genaration rx7 can use a rx8 or supra six speed manual gearbox by just bolting it on, is there any car you could get a 6 speed from to bolt on a nissan 300zx?

Yea, with one off products or custom fabrication, but being an owner of twin turbo 350z, if you car is a twin turbo, I would never get rid of that tranny it is much stronger. The folks at Z1 Performance in Carrollton have had cars in excess of 800 whp with no problems. The 1051 whp car did however break 3rd gear, I believe.

There are a few trannies out there that are superior to my 6spd, the RB25 tranny is an excellent alternative if big power is needed as well.

I doubt seriously any 6 spd is going to bolt right up, essentially.

Check with Z-1 motorsports dot com there may be an adapter soon for 350z transmission to 300zx cars. Almost the same length drive shaft has to be custom made as the 350z is carbon fibre. even a LS-2 engine and tremec 6 speed from a GTO into a third gen RX-7 really hauls the mail.

No not unless you want to do a VQ series engine swap at the same time. The reason you can do it with the rx7's and supras is because they kept the same (or roughly the same) engine in later years when they went to the six speeds. The nissan six speeds were made to bolt up to the VQ series engines, all the 300zx's have VG engines (in the US).

I think I saw someone on z31.com do it but it was all custom one-of parts to make it work.
